I promised myself I wouldn't blog, but I realized that my post was going to really be a blog.

I hate blogging in general, call me old fashioned, but what the hell, it is what it is.

 

Sooooo, here is the post... er blog.

 

This is my annual whine thread about exercise, pay it no heed.

 

Ok lets face it, most of us are more out of shape then we would like to be.

 

I am no exception, and I've managed to gain weight since this summer, and my intent this summer was to lose about 5-10 more. So I'm in the hole for 10-15 lbs.

 

Here is my dilemma. Mrs. Chicup finally got serious about getting back into shape after having our last child, and shes starting to look down right fabulous again.

 

This means a few things things....

 

1 - Shes back in 'swinging' shape. Shes not comfortable being naked around others if shes not comfortable in her own skin. Shes now almost there and therefore is open to swinging again.

 

2 - I mentally promised my self at that point I'd be in at least good shape and instead I'm back to my ho hum average.

 

3 - I think the guys shape is perhaps more important for swinging than the woman's in terms of attracting couples. There are a LOT more pretty women in swinging than good looking guys, just like normal life.

 

So here I am, in no better shape, a year older, a few pounds heavier, and with a wife who might end up a size 4 in a couple more months. For every vanilla man out there its the American dream, hot wife, good food. For me it just reminds me that I have to turn off my brain (exercise is mind numbingly boring) and fall in love with myself. I think for males narcissism and being in shape are connected unless your work is the kind that keeps you in good shape.

I struggle too...

 

My weight goes up, my weight comes down. I love food, I love wine, I'm a great cook, and I travel a lot for business, often eating in VERY tasty restaurants.

 

The only thing I've found for "exercise" that I enjoy is running. I get into a zen-like state, and I actually stick with it. I have actually been running for more than FOUR years now, which is quite an accomplishment. I still struggle with weight, but at least I know I have tools.

 

Is there NO physical activity that you enjoy? What about a trainer? If you're competitive (even with yourself), they can be just the ticket.

 

Now, that blog post wasn't so hard, was it?

Yea I was thinking about a trainer today as I wrote this. My logical side tells me its a waste of money, I know how to exercise, but my lazy side tells me I need something to motivate me to go when I don't want to otherwise.

The trainer is the only thing keeping me going to the gym. Having to face the embarrassment of fessing up to horrible eating and only making it to the gym twice in the last week is usually enough to make me not be as hideous as I'd like to be.

I have to have a tv on to exercise, or a podcast playing on my Ipod. I haven't done anything since before our Vegas trip last month and I'm starting to show the effects of doing nothing. I haven't gained any weight since all the weight I lost being sick, but when I don't do any type of exercise I get more "fluffy" in the middle.

If anyone has an urge to get into better physical shape, any one excuse is about as noble as another. Although, I'm not especially fond of the idea of making all that effort just to improve my odds of scoring a little strange.

 

It reminds me of the joke about the three bear hunters. One of them was wearing jogging shoes. When he was told that they weren't good enough to out run an angry bear, his reply was that he needed only to our run THEM......

Dammit, Chicup. About once every 8-12 months you post about this, and every 8-12 months I realize I (as a woman) am in a similar place and I realize I have to get back to the gym again.

 

Thanks for everything and nothing!

 

Off to pack a gym bag for tomorrow morning.

My co-worker swears by his personal trainer. I've almost done that, but once I tell myself that I have to go to the gum, I can do it on my own with good results. It's now an option I now leave on the table now that I make decent money, in case I lose that ability to get myself going.

 

Maybe you should try it for a few weeks, and find a cute female one, and tell us what you think?

Well the good news is I've been pretty regular with my weight bench since posting this.

 

The less then good news is I'm not quite diet focused yet. I've recently learned how to cook, and do it well. So well it makes going out to some restaurants very boring as I can do better. Its a bit of a hobby.

 

This helps somewhat as I know what goes in the food, but lately I've found I'm eating more. I've invented a few favorite recipes that blow most of what you get out, out of the water.

 

So the weights pretty much hovering.

 

Now much of this would seem like whining if you met me, I'm actually in OK shape, have some muscle tone, and a 36" waist at 6'1" so I don't expect any sympathy. I just know I could be better from a looks standpoint, and I want to be healthier in general.

 

We haven't been to a club in a long time, so we need to head out, I need to get rejected by someone very attractive, and then I can blame it on my weight so I'm motivated ;)

I worked out like crazy (stairmaster, rowing, and weights) when we first started swinging. Unfortunately, success has led me to slack off! Like Chicup, I need to lose out with a hot woman to serve as a kick in the pants (so to speak)!

I've been making the Mrs and myself go to the gym semi-regularly, mostly because, well, we need too. I'm in about Chicups position (not the dirty one! 6'-1", 185lbs, 36" waist, no six-pack of abs here), the Mrs, well, she needs it too, let's leave it there. For now, as my stamina is something of a joke, I've just been doing the treadmill, 30 minutes at a fast walk (for me, almost 4mph)

 

Eventually, want to get on the weight equipment.

Talk about different body types Warrencouple - If I were 185lbs I'd look near death. I got down to about 200 a couple of years ago after being sick and I had vanilla women I know tell me to not lose any more weight. We have the same waist and I'm 35 lbs heavier. I must have eaten some lead weights when I was a child or something.

I'm realizing that I need to get back into the gym, not for weight or to tone up even but just to feel better. Heading there tonight for Zumba and going to make every effort to go two more times this week. Thanks for the motivation Chicup (and I absolutely adore your new avatar - it's all too fitting for so many threads).

Haha.....

 

Well the wife got the 30 day squeeze or some exercise video from one of "The Biggest Loser" trainers which she is now doing at night on top of her normal work out.

 

She's starting to call ME fatty now which just ain't right :lol:

We're riding bycycles in the evenings now. Mrsfun is my primary motivation. Your second in motivation, thanks to these bloggs :)

 

Keep me motivated Chicup, this isn't the only motivation you inspire me with either.

 

Our down town area is pretty cool to cruze around in, but its getting colder out.

 

We have a gym across the street, but I'm not all crazy about getting to know the local "Vanilla" people.
