I can think of only two instances where this could happen:

1. They were feeling frisky and you were the first couple to come to mind. Be honored!

2. Their initial plans fell through and they were still feeling frisky and thought you would be interested. Be pissed off!

either way, a 21:00 booty call on a sunday is bad form. Unless it happens to be a 3 day weekend!

Even on a Saturday night at 9, we've gotten a few messages about getting together. Unless we were already out and about, we're just not that spontaneous. Showers, clothes, grooming, etc.

Wow, we thought the Saturday-night-at-9 thing was bad enough. Sunday night at 9? Whew.

I can think of a third instance to add to CXXC's list:

3. They were drinking and it didn't occur to them that this was at all unusual.

We like to plan ahead, and definitely would rather not find out at 9 PM on a weekend night that we should shave our pubic hair and I should put on makeup. We're likely to be unshowered, eating pizza and burping out loud at each other. We hate to pass up a chance with people we like, because you never know if you'll get another one. But if they pull that kind of stuff we could well like them less.

with the schedule Mrs. CXXC and I keep, they would be lucky to find us both in the same state. That being said, if they caught us at 21:00 on a saturday and we were not already engaged in something we find equally as fun...We would probably be up for it.

Eh... it's a compliment. As long as they don't take the no ungracefully, it's probably all good. They just don't know you that well.

If it had been Saturday it might have been a slightly different story... although considering that they live an hour away... chances are Pet would be asleep before they got to us (or we got to them). If it's after 9pm he has to actively be doing something ALREADY to be awake (not just starting it).

I'm sure we'll see them again - probably at another social. We really like them, but this did leave us wanting to ask WTF?

Probably just a case of them not thinking things thru clearly. We agree.... that late on a Sunday night just wouldn't be doable in most cases.
