Just thought I'd share: Over the New Year, I went to Berlin. Anyone who's been there knows that THE place to be is at the outdoor concert at Sylvester's Arch. It was televised too. I tried to watch it later and find myself but no such luck. Anyways, amidst the crowd I found myself pressed into the proximity of a very attractive Russian girl. Sadly, she did not speak any English and only a mild amount of German. Sadly, I did not speak any Russian and what German I did speak she didn't understand. However, through perseverance and hand gestures I managed to offer her a drink and my company. Come the countdown to new year's we made out, and after the concert we had a couple at a nearby bar. Still unable to communicate much more beyond our names, she seemed frustrated and left, stopping at the door to see if I was following. She gestured for me to follow, caught a cab, and gave the cabbie the business card to her hotel. Once there, we gave up completely on trying to communicate and focused our attention on removing eachother's clothes as fast as we could. The following morning, we tried to talk again over coffee, and then gave up and went back upstairs to do the only thing we knew how to do with eachother. We exchanged emails before I left Berlin, and thanks to a translator, Julia and I can now actually speak with one another. Maybe it's common place to others, but to me this was the most amusing way I could possibly have spent my New Year's. Oh, Happy New Year's everyone.
