friendships based entirely on party sex

Of course it's important to have a few friends. Many of us are of a personality persuasion labeled 'INTJ' and by definition that means we are less likely to have many folks we consider friends. Friends share a common interest and share some fun moments in an activity together. The relationship has a mutual benefit or falls apart over time.

The sex-based friendship has a very interesting twist. Somehow, discussing the nth detail of a metal machining operation on home shop equipment seems somewhat normal - at least for folks with an interest in the subject. But the nasty pillow-talk of house party friends amazes me in it's interestingness. On the one hand, of course it's reasonable (and hot as the seventh level of Hell). On the other hand, it's a wonderful benefit that I completely failed to predict when we were first exploring the possibility of swinging.

Is this the beginning of understanding the poly world???

I can't answer the poly questions, but one thing we enjoy about our swing friends is that we can pretty much talk about anything. Sure vanilla friends, especially women, may get to the dirty details when it's one on one, but i mean talking as couple to couple. It creates a different sort of bond than you might have with vanilla friends. And there are sex-party friends where that's all we share in a relationship..the sex..and there are sex party friends where we have interation beyond the sex on a social level.

~Smile~ my husband jumped on this. I knew he would. Your question, there, at the end: Is this the beginning of understanding the poly world? We both looked at each other and said, "Maybe."

Friendship is formed in shared experiences. Swinging, therefore, presents an opportunity for an exciting friendship. "The key is," hubby pointed out, "A) Repeatability, B) Repeatability, C) Repeatability, D) Repeatability, E) Repeatability, F) Is it still repeatable for ALL parties involved? Then 'maybe.' Expand the relationship beyond the sexual realm. Repeat steps A through F."
