Different Strokes for Different Folks
This weekend we finally had a chance to check out TSC (the other on-premise club in Nashville). We've been fans of Menages since our first visit and based on how much like Menages and what we'd heard about TSC we weren't in a hurry to check it out. This weekend, however, our local group made a field trip to Nashville and visited both clubs.
Friday night we went to Menages, which as always was a blast for us. The crowd was light but the music was smokin hot and so was the crowd. We had a blast dancing, got to meet some new couples (both from within our group and from SLS) and I got to have some yummy girl on girl time. Damn that was hot.
The one downside is that I had one too many to drink, so by the time we left the club I was gone and while I didn't feel bad then, I did the next day... all day. I've never been sick from drinking Jack before EVER, it wasn't fun. I was finally feeling human again in time to get ready and meet our group for dinner at the Spagetti Factory.
When we got there, we found 4 from our group only to find out that our leader had had an issue and not made it to dinner and therefore no one had called ahead for a table. So we waited. 45 minutes later we finally had a table. An hour after that we finally had food, by then I was just a little bit ornary. It didn't get better when the food came as mine pretty much sucked. My chicken marsala was made with a fried chicken breast that was so over-cooked I had to saw at it to cut it.
So we finally get to TSC, we get in the door and their membership contract was almost as long as my mortgage. Ok, no big deal, fill it out, sign it pay to get in. We head downstairs, I don't know if they don't have tours or if they just didn't offer it because we were there with a group. They did forgo marking our nametags with the usual "first timers" mark to help prevent us from being "fresh meat". This was actually what the door guy said.
Once you pay you go down a flight of stairs to the main club area, where there are many many small tables around the outside of the room, surrounding the dance floor. There was a small bar and a table with a few munchies on it. The club area overall looked like it might have once been a strip club. One of the other couples in our group who had come in earlier (it was also their first time) offered to give us a tour. So we headed upstairs to the play areas.
There is a decent size couples only room with a massage table, a swing, a sybian and several raised areas for playing. I really didn't see anywhere where a group of people could comfortably play together. The raised areas were big enough for a couple, but not really for more than that, at least not without fear of someone falling off the bed to the floor 3 feet below.
There were also about a dozen private rooms of varying size and lighting. They were all rather small and had raised areas for playing, however the largest of the raised "beds" was only about 4'x4' so I'm not really sure how you would comfortably play in those rooms, especially if you have more than 2 people. There is also a small dungeon room, with a cross and a couple of other pieces (BYO restraints/paddles/whips/etc).
Upstairs there were also a few more booths to sit and talk and another room with two pool tables and a tv. What I thought was odd was that the pool table room was on the other side of the play areas (through the area where the booths were) and the booth area was right in the middle between the couples only room and private play areas.
So after looking around I was thinking overall not a bad setup, definatley more areas to play there than at Menages. So we headed back downstairs to the main club area to see how it was going. We hung out and talked with the folks in our group... we really couldn't see anyone else because it was so dark in there. What we could see we weren't impressed by. I guess you could say that we like to 'dress to impress' and appreciate when others do as well. What we saw there was much more of the jeans and t-shirt crowd, and honestly there were women there in things I wouldn't wear out of the house (baggy sweaters/sweatshirts & jeans, etc). We tried to give it a chance, but it just wasn't getting better. The music was ok, but overall not a good mix that I'd want to dance to (on the upside it was a little quieter than at Menages which made it easier to talk).
In the end what killed it for us was a combination of heat (it was rather warm) and smoke (heat tends to make the smokiness worse). I was getting a huge headache and my eyes were burning so we finally ended up saying our goodbyes and leaving. Just walking outside made me feel better and I felt like I could actually breath again. After just an hour in the club we both already smelled like we'd been locked in a closet with a chain smoker.
All in all, I'd say that TSC definately isn't the place for us. It's not a bad club, it's just not our atmosphere or the people we enjoy.
