Shore Thang

Last weekend turned out to be one of the most fun weekends we've had in awhile. Our dear friends came down to stay with us, and we all spent last Saturday at the Jersey Shore. (Yes, that Jersey Shore.) No celebs were spotted, though we did see a camera crew on their break.

We hit sand and surf. Or should I say, the surf hit us. The water was unusually rough, and while we set up 'camp' about a dozen feet from the water's edge, a couple of big waves rolled in and soaked our stuff.

The lifeguards didn't let anyone go in deeper than about knee level, and for good reason. The riptides were really strong, and would knock you on your keister. The other lady and I got knocked over onto each other several times--which would have been way sexier without the sand and our nether-regions.

I'm STILL trying to get sand out of the house . . . But it was worth it.

We were hoping to sneak in some playtime by letting the kids camp out in a tent in our back yard, but the weather was uncooperative. Ah well. We mixed up kids and spouses for the drive there and back, so we had lots of time to relax and talk to our friends. It was decided we'll have to get together again soon, sans kids.

Oh, and while on the boardwalk, the other lady and I ventured into one of the shops to pick up a "must have" item for the next house party we're attending . . . :hahaha:

Stay tuned, ya'll!

Sand in the swimsuit, and on the car seats, and in the washing machine, and in the . . . -- what wonderful memories of ocean-front vacations that invokes.

Absolutely! By the way, we're headed out to your neck of the woods tomorrow for a mini vacation. We're gonna' do Kennywood, the Heinz Field tour, take in a Pirates game, and possibly visit the zoo.

Honestly, that's the ONE part of the Northeast U.S. I'd ever consider moving to. I freakin' hate the snow, but love the area.

And yes, friends do rock!
