"I close my eyes and she slipped away..."
With all thanks to Brad Delp and Boston, it was the only thing I could feel after Saturday night.
Mrs and I spent Friday night at our friends house, had a great time with them until 3 in the morning, then helped get ready for the party the next evening.
Things were scheduled to start at 8, and she arrived not long afterward with her husband. She was every bit as strikingly beautiful as their Swing Lifestyle profile indicated. And those legs that went on forever. I said hello to them both and instinctively rolled into my shy persona. I did see her a bit later and started to talk. Not being too pushy at the start I left her company and wandered around the house. I found her later, but she was wrapped up in a lounge chair with my friend, the male host of the party. I mingled around some more... but every time I looked for her, she was with him. They disappeared not too long later. I set my sights on a red head that I had met at the previous party six weeks ago. We'd been chatting and texting during that time and the magic was there. I found Mrs. DontStop and let her know my intentions. She had the look in her eye for another guy and she confirmed they would be getting together.
The excursion with the red head was fantastic. When we came out it seemed that everyone had broken off with someone else and the house seemed empty. Slowly the couples and moresomes came out and it was a party again.
After some time had passed and I felt I was ready for a second round, I found her again. She was sitting alone on the couch, so I sat down with her and we continued our conversation from earlier. She mentioned a recent trip to Orlando, where she stayed at a hotel that I'd recently done some work for. I had opened my mouth to make the connection, and talk about how much fun it is to work at hotels because you get to see the tourists in their bikinis... but none with legs as beautiful as these.
But before I could get a word out, someone was calling out for someone else. One of the other guests drank herself stupid, passed out, woke up crying and wanted her best friend. Her best friend, with the beautiful legs and who had recently taken a trip to Orlando.
I waited for her to come back, but 10 minutes later she was collecting her things... and leaving with her friends.
The night didn't end there for me... there was a foursome on the horizon, thank you very much, but all I could think about was the one that got away.
On Sunday I dropped her a line on Swing Lifestyle. Telling her my heart broke just a little bit when she left as I was hoping we could take the next step. It wasn't until Tuesday that she responded, saying she was hoping for the same thing and was equally sorry she had to leave. They'd love to get together sometime.
But alas... Mrs. does not find her husband attractive enough to seal this deal. And I don't have the cajones to tell her that, or to ask for her separately.
Maybe at another party we'll bump into each other. Sigh.
Oh, so close.
