Gut Wrenching
The last two days have been just that for the Sweet family. Mr. Sweet had his surgery yesterday. He didn’t want to let it show, but I knew he was very nervous; even before they took his blood pressure. I was more worried about his nerves than the surgery itself. Perhaps that was because at the very same time, in another hospital, a good friend was undergoing surgery to remove at least part of a cancerous mass. His wife and I kept each other company via text.
Both guys thankfully had successful surgeries and have been recovering well. My hubby was home a few hours later, resting in his recliner, while our friend remained at the hospital overnight.
Today was the memorial for our neighbor. It was good to see "Cara's" teachers there, and several of the neighborhood families. The service itself was much like a Baptist tent revival, which really had my son (who has only ever attended Episcopal and Catholic services) intrigued. Girl had a tougher time of it, but we got our chance to say goodbye.
Tomorrow begins another day, and hopefully the start of some better times ahead.
=)
