Technical Difficulties

Alas, my laptop is very sick and requires major surgery. It started with a treatable illness (a new power source was needed), so I took it to one of my personal geek squad members. The initial procedure was successful, but a larger problem was discovered. Power was getting to the machine, but it was not starting up. Apparently, the connection between the power switch and the motherboard is a known issue with Dells. A new motherboard was ordered, but I do not have a date for the surgery yet. I am anxiously awaiting the repair of my baby.

In the interim, I was forced to use my old laptop, which is nearly ready for the Pearly Gateway. A dear friend took pity on me and loaned me his machine, which I needed for the Sweet Fantasy Football draft night (we have our own league). I also need to continue working on my Murder Mystery, which seems to be getting a much better response since I changed the date. At any rate, I'm getting spoiled with my friend's laptop, and hope I'll get my Dell back soon.

In the meantime, Mr. Sweet is shopping around for a new laptop for me, with hopes of passing the Dell down to the offspring. Wish us luck!

Thanks ya'll. And for the record, we don't plan to trash the Dell. We'll be keeping it for the kiddos to use. That said, I STILL don't have my machine back, and am losing patience. We had a household issue to deal with that has temporarily put us off the hunt for a newer machine for me. We'll get there eventually.

This is why I assemble my own desktop computers and just use a tablet when I want to go mobile.

If you want a good lap top its going to cost you, the rest are trash. I have a great sony I bought about 5 years ago that is everything I could want but it cost close to 4k. Most laptops really cut corners to keep the cost down, and when you think about it, you are miniaturizing high tech parts AND cutting corners. That leaves a lot of room for screw ups and failure.
