Marriage and Wedding Rings

I went to dinner with crazed before Valentines and an ad caught my eye for a jewelry store. It reminded me that I really want to get a new wedding band. I shared this with crazed and his comments made me realize that my ring is special to me. I can't wear it because the diamond is chipped and the store will not resize it unless they replace the diamond. That is unacceptable because it is the diamond that was blessed at the ceremony. And It occurred to me that my wedding ring was a true representation of my marriage, it is perfect in its imperfection!! The diamond is chipped much the same as we have chips in our marriage from infidelity and fighting. The band may be scratched from every day wear and use but it is still whole and ONE in the same way that we are still whole and One. So that is why I have decided to wait 'till our 15 year anniversary in two years and have a re-commitment ceremony so the new ring can represent our union just as strongly and the original ring will remain where it is....in the box where I still find myself admiring it every now and then. Or I may have it encased in a cage to protect the diamond falling out and wear it on a chain. What do you think?

I believe that your plan is perfect and I do appreciate the sentiments that guide your logic. I will add, keep the original rink in its box. Things worn on chains have ways of becoming lost.

yes, I do believe it is safest in it's box. The more I consider it, the more I think I want to leave it as is and keep it safe. I place a lot of value on it's symbolism and I would hate to lose it.
