It centers on Molly Roden Winter's book More and includes an interview with a couples counselor who says many forms of non-monogamy are indeed on the rise.

Interesting, but not surprising. The couples counselor made one good point - there is only one way to have a monogamous marriage/relationship, but many ways to have an open one. That makes it more difficult to get both partners aligned.

@Numex true there are many ways to have a non-monogamous relationship.

 

The biggest critique I've heard regarding the type of open marriage discussed in that article usually comes from the husbands.  Husbands who think an open marriage is a license to fuck other women are often surprised when it turns out their wives are getting alot more action than they are.

Not only because women can more easily get a man for sex, but also because women want it just as much if not more, and can easily take on multiple men without performance issues and have multiple orgasms.  Plus, homosexual "action" between women is common.

@couplers everything you said is spot on.

I would tend to say that open marriage is a good option for husbands who are into hotwife/cuckold fetishes bc she will be out fucking while hubby stays home.

If that's not your fetish than I think other forms of polyamory, like swinging, may work better.

In my case, I'm sure David and Red weren't letting me be with both of them (and for a short while with a third) because either had a fetish, it's because they love me.  But I will admit that later when I got over my jealousy and they were with other women, I enjoyed being a female whose men played.

I was going to say that it's a negotiation like many things in marriage, but we are already of one mind on the bit of play we do outside of our family.

Daniela and I started in the lifestyle in what I now know is hotwifing, but not because I enjoyed the idea of her fucking other men, just because knowing her past and seeing her need for sexual variety, and I wanted her to be happy. It was made especially easy for me because the guys she got with at first were guys she had been with before, so it was no big deal for me.
