Cheating equals Swinging? Think again!

Here's the thing, the line between a couples-only club that screens its members-and a purely commercial club that doesn't is blurry. Hell, in the Bay area in the early 80's there were "couples only" clubs that would let single guys in with paid escorts or even let a few single guys in that paid an extra fee(though generally only if they were known to the management). In the old days, the Sutro Bath house in San Francisco was thought by some as a "swing club"-and they did have couples only nights(but all a couple meant was a male and a female that showed up together). Anyhow, the formula meant that a lot of cheaters of both genders showed up-and this was the highest profile sex club in the area at the time(Steve and Sallies being the highest profile couples club I think). I remember one older Chinese woman that always seemed to be there with a younger woman that was reportedly her daughter(I sincerely doubt her husband had any idea they were there!).

 

When there are high profile places like Sutro around, it is hard for the public to grok the difference-particularly when there may well have been more committed couples in places like Sutro and similar establishments than at the NASCAR type couples oriented clubs. For folks that aren't really "into" swinging, it is going to be hard to grasp the subtle differences.

There was a movie-ish-thing with Garrison Keillor (sp?) who kept saying "I can grok that".

 

I remember the word from there, but I have no idea what it meant...

 

But - I also don't remember much about the little short except that I think he did full frontal nudity in it, which shocked me at the time.
