What in a picture can indicate negative things about the couple?

We have been talking in another thread about how a pic of a woman giving the bird to the camera or her partner can be a negative sign for many of us. What else in a pic can put you off or trigger a negative emotion for you???

 

1) We have seen pics where the background looks like a garbage dump. (If their house isn't clean, are they?)

 

2) Pics where there are other people in the pic with faces. (a no no for us even with permission...who knows who might see that picture) Cropping is a great feature - use it liberally.

 

3) Graphic photos - save them for when we get to know you better and only when we ask thanks. Especially the penis pics in a single males profile...geez put that thing away before you put someone's eye out.

 

4) Pics that include children....now that is just dangerous, again crop, crop, crop

Ifully agree with your list. However, in addition, the quality of pictures also makes a huge difference. Pictures with eyes closed, weird smirks, poor lighting, red-eyes, unintentional blurs, etc., just make a bad impression. Some pictures you just have to wonder, "Why is THIS in their profile???" I saw one pic taken at a bar, and the guy's tongue was sticking far out. Not a problem in general, except the tongue was a wretched yellow/white color that almost looked sickly. Maybe it was just bad lighting but who would want to be licked/kissed by that?

 

For a photo album, there are other characteristics that I don't like that cannot show up in only a single picture, but only in a collection of pictures. For example, when none of the pictures show them together as a couple, it is hard to beleive that they are a couple. Similarly, we don't like profiles that have lots of pictures but ONLY of the woman. Are we supposed to take it on faith that he's not Frankenstein? No, thanks. Also, I have seen some profiles with more "sexy cartoon/anime" images than of real people. One or two may be ok, but dozens? Maybe if I were Fred Flintstone that'd be a turn-on.

I agree completely with all that is said. I think especially the female part of the couple looks at details lol. We don't have any explicit pics up. Nudes yes, but tastefully done nudes. I agree 200% in that I HATE graphic pics. You know, as a woman I just know that you as a woman have a vagina, and I know what it looks like lol. And as a man, I know you have a penis lol, you do not have to show it to me. I must more like pics done with imagination and that let your personality show through......although, Jay insisted we do the old butt shots lol, he says men love them. I think they make my ass look like a tank.

We are non smokers so I am sure that plays a part in my aversion to seeing full ashtrays..... ick. They just look so nasty.

 

Dirty houses are another biggie. Hello!!!! do you not see all the piles of crap around you? I always wonder, did they straighten up for the picture and it actually looked worse before?

 

And of yes the big old close-ups of the spread wide vaginia's and penis shots. Having them as a part of the picture is one thing, but for them to be the whole picture.... not pretty.

Not from anyone's SLS or AFF profile, but a classic meme pic from Fark. If this were the actual shot from somebodies profile - which it ain't - it hits all the negatives - smoking, ball cap on backwards, messy house, oh, and a big damn jug of anal lube conveniently left out for all to see!

 

Of course, this is coming from 1/2 of a couple that's been too chickensh*t to post a pic in their profile for a year and a half.

I would have to say that our number one pet peeve in photos is a messy background. At least take the time to tidy-up before you take pictures. All this is says is "we're slobs". If it is too much trouble to clean-up the area first, learn to use Photoshop proficiently.

 

Number two, dick shots in single guy profiles. Every guy has one. Contrary to your opinion of yourself, yours isn't any better then any of the other ones. What else do you bring to the table?

 

Three, profiles where hubby has not problem showing full pics of his wife, but all of him have his head cropped out of the pic. Makes us wonder about the relationship dynamics going on. We don't have any face pics presently in the public area of our profile, but we do have an equal number of full body and face pics of both of us separate and some of us together in our private album.

Dito Dito Dito to everything so far. One thing I notice is the apparent age of the picture. A year or two old is fine and if the profile includes current pictures then pictures dating back 20 years or more makes for a very interesting profile. However, if all the pictures look 20 years old, then it's an automatic pass. Admittedly, I don't show up in too many pictures. Not through shyness or to hide any hideous disfigurement, but because I'm usually the one on the other side of the camera.

 

Your hubby is correct ShellyM, a large percentage of guys love the butt shots. Personally, they do nothing for me, but I admit to being just a wee bit different.

Our biggest is only having pictures of just one of the couple. If you are a couple, then please please please post pics of both of you. Even though in our profile we clearly ask for pics of both, we still get emails and the profile is nothing but the wife.

 

MrsVan is just as interested in knowing and seeing her potential playmate as I am. In addition, it is very hard to say no in a polite way to a couple that only posts pics of the wife or husband, then later you get the pics of the other half and it's like no way.....

 

I am not the most photo friendly guy in the world, and I absolutely hate to have my picture taken, but, we are a couple and we try our best to include pictures of both of us on our profile.

 

We also would prefer to see more normal everyday shots of people. If all goes well, we will see the other parts anyway and in person (even better ) so we would prefer G to PG type pics.

I agree with everyone else's turnoffs. I am a smoker and ashtrays are a turn off in a pic for me. Please please learn how to empty it. As a former bartender my habit is second butt hits the ashtray, empty it and wipe it out. My boss was very strict on that rule. Noone likes a filthy ashtray. But my ultimate turn off is hygiene. If I can scrape the filth off of my monitor along with the oil from your hair, for crying out loud there is only one word left. Shower.

The photo that really makes me laugh is the one of the woman all dressed up while standing in front of the bathroom mirror. I'm not quite sure why, but posing in front of a sink and hairdryer is about as provocative as standing next to a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners, although certainly as funny.

About Ass shots, I can say that not all men like them, they usually don't do much for me anyway. For me, I find a lot of the ass shots I see in profiles to be very unflattering, not always, but most of the time. Mrs. GT and I were just discussing this the other day when she was looking at someone's profile pictures and they had a particularly unflattering ass shot. So, you won't see any of those in our profile.

Personally, I agree with all the above, plus I don't like to see convention pictures in the profile. There is something about a woman standing ina hotel room, in a newly stained dress, screwed up lipstick and an arm band that throws me off right from the get-go.

 

This is your first impression and I have seen some really nice convention photos, but for the most part not.
