Dinner menu etiquette for swingers?

Recommended Posts

We like cooking dinner for vanilla friends, and also for non-vanilla friends. However, when sex could happen that night, I do not consider recipes with a lot of foods that... how do I put this... are likely to make anyone gassy. I've had two conversations recently with playmates that make me curious about whether others think about what they're cooking.

Now, it could be that I'm unusually occupied with this, because I've unfortunately always been gassy. Thank goodness for Beano (ching!). But I can't be the only one who's thought of it!

A few months ago, a playmate joked to me about a dinner date he and his wife had had. The lady had served a cabbage dish. He was appalled. "Can you imagine serving cabbage to someone when you think you might have sex later?" I thought this was hilarious. He had a house party a few weeks ago, and I teased him by saying I'd bring a nice cabbage dish (I didn't).

Another playmate happened to mention he was cooking beans and rice as a side dish for a date this weekend. I sputtered, and then suggested that might not be a great idea, or at least it might raise an eyebrow on the other side of the table. Not only was this funny to me for the above reason, but I found myself giving advice to a playmate on how to score with another woman, an extremely sexy one by the way.

Don't get me wrong-- I don't stress over what to cook. I just think this was funny and wondered if anyone else does too.

I used to be lactose intolerant. Then I had my gall bladder removed. Now when I eat the wrong foods, intolerance has given way to a lactose hate crime being committed in my duodenum...

We were going to have guests recently and Mrs Spoo makes this delicious bean dip... But I have to tell you I had visions of barking spiders all over my house and advised her against it. Now - if my vanilla friends think of me as a gas bag, I could care less. But I would be mortified to think of the disaster a swing-date would be with the wrong combinations of foods.

On the plus side, though, I've lost an awful lot of weight and am getting rid of my "gut" since having the surgery. But ice cream is a treat best served in solitude...

A "lactose hate crime"...That's a combination of words I never expected to see  .

Anyone else? Calling all cooks!

One of the local clubs here serves appetizers and they always have deviled eggs. The funniest part to me is that they are usually the first item to go. I'll stick to the deli meats.

Oh, no-- what's wrong with deviled eggs? That's what I DID bring to the house party! :surrender: I can't win!

If you bring deviled eggs then you should also bring the dog with you, then you can just blame it on the dog.

 That delivered a well needed chuckle. That and the term "lactose hate crime" You two guys are too funny sometimes :)

But as far as etiquette ( did I spell that right?) on a play date dinner you are cooking...I just avoid eggs, beans, and roughage (cabbage mainly) And oranges, but that's for my husbands benefit. *shudders to think of him eating oranges around ANYONE*

Also, large amounts of garlic. I am Italian, and we do love our garlic in EVERYTHING. But I try to cut back on it when cooking for others, vanilla or not. Noone wants to sit next to someone with that kinda breath. That or I make sure there are plenty of spare toothbrushes, mints, and mouthwash.

"lactose hate crime" LMAO that is getting funnier the more I think about it.

Well, eggs don't give me gas... just the veggies and beans. Learn something new every day.

But what's the deal with oranges?

Oranges??

Now, that's a new one. I know turkey can also play havoc on some folks digestive tracks.

By the time we're all done, you'll be serving breadsticks and water. And that would be breadsticks without garlic, you know ;)

When Paul and I were discussing dinner options before hitting the club one night he mentioned one of our favorite Mexican places. I had to set him straight. He hadn't thought of it but once I pointed it out it made complete sense to him.

I think I would also avoid things with lots of garlic (or other breath affecting foods) before potential playtimes.

Damn, I'm an Atkins person - bread nowadays can do a number on me.

I guess I can just have water...

Well, what beans and cabbage and mexican food do to some people is what oranges do to my husband. To say the least, I don't even want to be in the house for at least 8 hours after he has eaten one. I have no idea why oranges affect him like that, but they do. I suppose I could say the acid in them affect his digestive track, but he can eat other acid filled foods and not have a problem, so I don't know what it is. Just that if he eats one, suddenly I try to come up with plans to get me out of the house.

I try to watch what I eat for a few days before swinging...for instance, I limit garlic and onions...don't want to take a chance having anything um...contaminated, lol.

Please explain vanilla and non-vanilla...? I am still new to this board, i didn't get it...

Vanilla friends -- non-swing friends. "Straight"

Non-Vanilla friends -- swing friends. "Curvy"

Serving garlic? Serve it to the vanilla friends.

:D

CandSinMadTown - I'm glad as a newbie you felt comfortable asking, but just so you know there is swingers dictionary in the articles section and many (not all) of the terms that you might be unfamiliar with are listed. Lots of newbies wouldn't be comfortable asking and I just wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone know that the link is there to check out most unfamiliar words and terms!

I'm sure there are others out there that were thrilled YOU had the comfort level that allowed you to ask the question!!

Thank you...everyone on the board that i have had any communication with has seemed very "approachable", so, really, it is you guys that made me feel comfortable enough to ask...but i will refer to the dictionary on a more regular basis...i didn't see that up there :thankyou:

From one particular hostess and from Sue Johanson, the Talk Sex with Sue nurse, I have heard this same advice. Put out pineapple tidbits and encourage the guys to partake. Makes the seminal fluid taste sweeter (on this point I have no direct experience). I have no idea what effect this might have on flatulence. I would think that bean dip, eggs, sauerkraut, etc. would be ill advised.

I have heard this advice as well. Now I am not swinging but I'm pretty sure that it would not be too hard for any woman to find an impartial panel of men to test this theory on.

I have noticed that certain combinations; meat and starch, interferes with my performance. Also just the thought of "biomethane" can also interfere.

For any women having a mind to do a scientific investigation, I volunteer for the "control group".

I was just wondering what food is best to eat before a date? I have thought of what not to eat, like no onion, no garlic, no beans, hehehe, but I can't think of anything good to eat for dinner before meeting friends for play so my tummy won't be grumbling. Any ideas?

Something simple and plain that won't make your digestive system work overtime (no greens or cabbage for me).

I love steamed oysters or clams. Seafood seems to sit best for me (steamed not fried). If not seafood, then grilled chicken breast and steamed green beans.

We always eat an early dinner on play nights.

When we're entertaining friends, we grill "kabobs" with chicken, shrimp and bell peppers and a pasta salad. It doesn't bloat you and is a non-greasy food that doesn't interfere with viagra or any of the other good sex drugs . During "intermission" we like boiled shrimp for a snack. Cheese and crackers or a cheeseball is good, too!

Greasy food interferes with ED pills? I had no idea. I learn something new here everyday!

A comment on the thread/poll about same vs. separate rooms reminded me of a question that's been on my mind--in your experience, what tends to happen when one pair finishes having sex in same-room play? Does the other pair feel pressure to finish up?

Edited to add: Yeah, I know someone's always going to finish first, barring wild coincidences. But I couldn't think of a better way to put it.

In your experience with swinging, either being the guy yourself, or the woman experiencing it, when does the guy normally cum? Do you have the woman perform oral and cum through there so you last longer for sex? Do you let the woman get you started with oral but only cum during sex? Or do you skip oral completely and just cum through sex. Normally we cum through sex, but sometimes the girl is really good at oral so I (male) don't know to make her stop or let it go...Just curious what the rest of you do in a similar situation.

I was talking to a friend here about an experience we had with a single male some time ago. It was a first "play" situation and we were clear that condoms were expected.

The guy turned out to be fairly well endowed; the kind of gear that requires the larger size wrapper. When "condom time" arrived he pulled out one of the cheap thick skinned, average size condoms that you might buy in a truck stop bathroom.

Needless to say - it didn't fit.

He couldn't put it on and maintain his erection.

This led to him asking (in a mock casual voice) if we ever play without.

      End play date.

It struck me as a bit odd that a guy who said he had a lot of experience seemed to have no clue what condom size he needed. Was it a ploy to go without? Did he really buy one at the last minute when he knew ahead of time that there would be play? Did he simply have no experience with "safe sex"?

I actually use condoms that would have worked and did have mine with me, but the whole thing felt wrong to me. So - I let him flounder and leave. After all, I don't use condoms with Mrs Spoo and couldn't have been expected to provide them. I didn't feel very benevolent.

I have had men right before play come to me and ask if I had one. Spur of the moment situations can leave anyone in a bind. I have no problem with that and do carry extra just in case that happens. But this wasn't a "spur of the moment" kind of thing.

Mrs Spoo was upset as well and was glad I didn't offer one of mine.

What would you have done? And do you know what condom size works for you? How long did it take you to figure that out?

So the other day we were playing with a very good single male friend of ours... We had just gotten finished with "round 2" when I walked around the bed...

There - lying like a newly shed snake skin, still wet in the sun, was something that obviously wasn't mine...

"Ummm, I hate to be accusatory, but is this your USED condom?" It was a bit of a rhetorical question - after all, I don't use them with my wife and my wife doesn't need them since she doesn't have a weiner of her own...

"Well, technically, it isn't 'USED'" was the smart ass response...

"What do you mean it isn't 'technically USED'?"

      "Well - I didn't finish with it..."

"Well..." somewhat speechless, "I'm still not picking it up..."

Now, to put this in perspective, this is a really good friend and we pick at each other quite a bit. Being the gentleman that he is, he picked up his condom and disposed of it.

My question is - when in the hell is a condom USED?

I am thinking if it has been wrapped around schlong, it is a goner... It's not "almost new" or "like new" or "gently experienced" - it's USED...

To be honest, now that I think about it, I am squeamish enough to say that if another guy brings a condom, pulls it out of the wrapper and hands it to me - I don't want it... It's USED enough even then...

      What do you think?
