Is it true most swingers live in mobile homes?

The reason for this poll is that we were talking with some one recently (a vanilla friend) and they brought up swinging. They made the comment that most people they have ever known to claim to be swingers lived in mobile homes. This is not the first time we have heard this comment. This got us to thinking about the friends we have and folks we know and if they live in mobile homes or not.

Oh, and don't feel bad for living a mobile home by any means!

Another myth that the vanilla world has started about swingers. They assume we're all low class, red neck, sex fiends.

Our home is over 3000 sq. ft. with plenty of bedrooms for guests. Come on over ya'll. ;)

Our perception is that most active swingers are pretty affluent, although that percentage may vary from region to region. We own a modest, one-bedroom condo in Colorado, and we feel downright poor compared to some of our swinging friends. Someday, we hope to buy a larger home where we can regularly host house parties.

That's quite possible and becomes more probable as the distance between their residence and large trailer parks decreases. I would expect to find swingers among moble home occupants and just about any other isolated demographic - I just haven't run into any of them yet.

I think most swingers would not casually reveal their secrets to vanilla acquaintenances (outside the trailer park :) ).

We live in a "real house," but after the discussion about RV couples having fun in their campers, I wonder if we all shouldn't buy a portable love shack. Then, we would all know who are swingers and who are not from the rockin' trailers. No bracelets or other identifiers required.

:)

What a weird comment to make, "all the swingers *I* know live in trailers." Did you ask how many, exactly, did he or she know?

Darnit, the poll wouldn't let me vote twice. We live in a mobile home (Manufactured housing is the politically correct term), and our vacation home has wheels too (travel trailer or RV for the politically correct). I wouldn't say we are poor, cheap would be more accurate.

LOL, we do not live in a mobile home. I do not know any swingers who live in mobile homes lol. As a matter of fact, most couples we know own hot tubs and swimming pools lol.

Hey, manufactured homes allow you to get options that are SOOOO expensive than in site built homes. We bought one in 2000, and that things was gorgeous. It had skylights, a garden tub, 4 bedrooms, 2 living rooms and a fireplace. We would never have been able to afford a site built home like that. We ended up selling it because we were wayyy out in the country, but we sure loved that house.

I saw this thread and couldn't help but think :wtf3:

Really? People think this? They also think that swingers are fundamentally flawed couples with sex addictions and an overbearing, dissatisfied spouse forcing the issue on the victimized other...

As much as I would love for "vanillas" to understand swinging, I accept that it is a concept they can't fully get. Trailers? Whatever...

Who really cares where good people live?

Hey, we have a hot tub, it is that rusty thingy right between the inflatable pool and the stoop couch.:hahaha:

Just kidding, for some reason, that is really funny to me.:lol:

Wow....... They hit us right on the dot... We're low class, red necks, and sex fiends... We just live in a huge house in a ritzy golf course development that we used to share with five kids!

We live in a real house. We even own it, or at least, the bank does and lets us have our name on the deed ;)

I do own a trailer, but it's the enclosed cargo variety, used for hauling motorcycles to the track or the mountians.

The only couple we've ever been with also owns their house.

Hey, I resemble that remark! I may be a redneck and I'm proud to say I'm a sex fiend...but I'm not low class, dammit!

I'm thinking we seriously want to live in an RV (my kid's grandparents travel the country in theirs) when the kids leave home. Does that make us less sexy? I sure don't think so.

As Stevie Ray says, "if the house is a rockin'".....

I reckon the Great Spirit doesn't like mobile homes or churches, (they're the two main things she hits with her tornados) so I'd never want to live in either.

We've never known any swingers (well, except for Good Times... and we never knew they lived in manufactured housing) who lives in a mobile home... and, yes, most of the folks we've played with had spas. Seems to be a common accessory, nicht wahr?

As far as the "low-class" bit goes, our playmates have included the following:

1. A factory foreman and his Wal-Mart employee wife.

2. A pipeline welder and his RN/MD wife. (I know, a rare combination.)

3. A hospital lab worker/musician and his military wife.

4. A couple who rode Harleys. Don't know how they paid for them. They didn't seem to have time to work.

5. A college professor and his corporate-vice-president wife.

I'd never refuse to play in a mobile home or a church (unless we were under a tornado watch). :)

This is seriously our dream as well. Exact same, just heading in a direction to see what's there.

I voted we live in a house. And we have a mobile trailer also on the river. I was thinking what does it mater. and then after reading Alura's post kind of got me thinking about our playmates. When we were learning and doing research, one of the stereotypes we read somewhere is that most swingers were police officers and teachers. Actually let's see who we know and what they live in. Bear in mind I'm a pipeline/welder with a wife who works in retail sales.

1. the national president of a trade union and his real estate wife (who live in the biggest freaking house we have ever seen).

2. an insurance sales employee and his homemaker wife. (house like us)

3. a doctor / real estate wife (house)

4. a lawyer/ homemaker wife (house)

5. a farmer / homemaker wife (farm house)

6. a salvage man / homemaker wife (double wide trailer) No One can tell us they are any less than wonderful people!

7. swing club owner/ operator wife (house)

Single Males

1. military doctor (house)

2. male nurse #1 ( apartment)

3. male nurse#2 (house)

Single bi females

1. real estate agent (house)

2.&3. factory workers (live together in a house)

4. retail clerk house.

I guess where I'm going with this is it is amazing the diversity of people we can call swinger friends. If all of these people lived in a trailer park, we would be right there in that trailer park and not even think twice about it. It has never been about anything more than good people in a great relationship. The people we swing with has nothing to do about their house. Just our observation. Oh, about the spas, come on in, the water is fine.

I would have voted: "I live in my own little world of rose colored glasses :-)"

but it wasn't an option so I voted for living in a house.

To add to this post. I don't think Couple4fun2821 was saying it mattered one way or another, it was just an interesting poll. We live in a "Modular Home" Its a site built manufactured home on a foundation. But yes the vanillas do have a lot stereotypes for us and some times when I hear them, I like to just smile and say something like " I know, can you believe that people would actual swap partners, I think you are right, they would have to have something wrong in their relationship to do that" Then I go home get the wife ready and go swap partners! LOL

We live in a stick built house, have lived in mobile homes in the past, and may live in one again some day.

Actually our tastes would lead us to living in a double-wide on 500 acres before living in a McMansion on 1/4 acre. But that's just us. YMMV.

We have play friends that live in mobile homes, super-sized homes, and cozy cabins.

Honestly, we couldn't give a shit where they live as long as they are a happy couple that enjoys our company and we theirs.

You know, I've always been told that if you go to a PTA meeting, that's what swingers look like. IE: A little bit of everyone. So, with that in mind, I suspect we live in a wide variety of abodes.

Yep.....we live in a house too. And all of our playmates that we've visited their home have happened to be houses too. But then, we're in our mid 40's and tend to hang around with folks of similar age, so most have houses. Though it wouldn't matter to us what type of house our playmates had.....as long as the place was clean ;)

I agree...kind of like how alot of people assume that because a person speaks with a southern drawl they are ignorant and sleep with their cousins. I am NOT ignorant, nor do I have sex with my cousins lol. Well, not 1st cousins at least...just kidding.

We live in a real house on 6500 acres but we own 5 mobile homes for some of our hired help. Hope that still qualifies us as low class rednecks.

You should see the looks you get when you slip in a "southernism" while presenting a math or physics paper. I can control my accent, but a 30 minute presention followed by Q&A will result in at least one "y'all". If they knew that I was a swinger too..... Luckily, I am an experimenter and not a theoretical physicist. That makes it harder to blow me off when you don't like me. :hahaha:

No mobile home here! As for sq ft, depends upon "which" house you are referring to, we're a multiple abode couple.

Presently, the mortgage company and I own a house, but I've owned and lived in a pre manufactured home and really liked it. I've played with people in mobile homes and houses including one that I thought was a lodge when I saw it the first time.

Swingers are a mirror of the general population although a hot tub does seem to be almost a requirement, doesn't it?

There does seem to be a lot of business owners, nurses, teachers of both sexes in the lifestyle .

We live in our own home (sans hot tub, sigh) as do most of our swingin' friends.

And curiousagain--you forgot to mention the "computer geeks"--a job held by quite a few of our playmates. ;)

We currently live in a mobile home. It not our fantasy home by any stretch, but it's not bad for a 1st home. At least we live in a fairly nice subdivision and not a "Jerry Springer" like trailer park.

We live in our own home in the woods (kinda) with lots of wildlife around us.

We also have a home on the water for weekend fun...a 37' wood boat that we are always working on. It's all good :D

I don't care what I call home, just make sure it is close to the beach.

Right now I live in a two bedroom, two floor condo. On the river close to the beach. :D

Dog and I are looking to buy a home....close to the beach. :D

ps skinny dipping in the lake is as much fun as in a hot tub. Only problem is you might get caught and the water is cold....never mind, hot tub wins

After being to Hedo 2X (Yo po folks don't travel there, too expensive) and meeting the folks we hang with, I would say that most are on the affluent side and less liking to be in a trailer.

Where do we fit in on this, we live on a boat. We own a house that we rented out when we went cruising the caribbean. we came back and still live on the boat and rent our house, we may sell the boat and move in the house or sell the house and go cruising again. So many decisions when you are retired.

We always dreamt about the boat in the Caribbean, turned out to be a beach-front Condo. Still had our log cabin (2,400 sq ft, built in 2002) way high in the Colorado Rockies. So we lived like "rich-folk" for three years, migrating between skiing and scuba diving. It seems our desire for the cruisers life has waned, so now we are just living the good life hitting the record-breaking powder and letting life come our way for a change.

You definitely have the right idea, we are deciding what we want to do next, or what we will do when we grow up. Isnt it great letting life come to us.

According to most statistics of people in the lifestyle people on avg are usually college educated and usually would be considered middle to upper class. I have also see statistics that show that people in the lifestyle have a 10% divorce rate whereas couples not in the lifestyle is now at or around 60%.

Just as swingers come from all walks of life (lawyers, accountants, city officials, truck drivers, resturant servers, etc.), they probably have the same living arrangement distribution accross the general swinger population as the general society population.

We did a poll on income in this thread: it shows the majority in middle to upper-middle class as far as income goes.

We got rid of our six digit home, with three bedrooms, and a very high payment, for a very nice, fairly new double wide. It is in a very nice park, paid a fraction of what it appraised for, and is only about ten years old, where the old house was over one hundred years old. I have seen where people put down people being in mobile homes, but to have saved so much money, from that expensive stick built home, I think we made the right choice.

Because we're not poor but really cheap, our primary home has been a manufactured home (3 bed, 2 bath) for the past 18 years. Think of it: no mortgage for the last 15 years.

Our summer house is stick built house built in the 1930's. 4 bedroom, 1 bath. Personally, I like my manufactured house better. Better electrical, easier upkeep.

We're selling the MH and moving into probably a stick built house closer to where our jobs are. Another mortgage. Probably by the end of October.

My wife & I bought a 12 yr old Manufactured home with 2.5 bedrooms, 2 baths, front & back deck, Double size lot that is completely fenced in the rear of the house. For $527. a month mortgage payment including taxes & homeowners insurance which is way cheaper than rents in our area.

We love it!

Was wondering what the opinion is on family nudity in the home.

I'm not talking about lounging around watching TV in the nude with the kids around or having lifestyle friends over when the kids are around.

What I mean is, are you comfortable changing clothes, getting out of bed in the morning if you sleep in the nude, getting a shower, etc. if your kids are around you.

Does it matter if they are a different gender than you, does age matter?
