Swinging in Television, Film, and Media

Recommended Posts

Law and Order Special Victims Unit just finished an episode on a fruitcake swinger who falls in love with, and then gets gets conned by, a woman at the local swing club. Many suggestive shots of the interior of the club.

My wife kept asking "how dumb can a man get?" We never met anyone that dumb in or out of the lifestyle. But, the writers and producers are sure it makes for great TV.

"Sex and Breakfast." From the Netflix summary: James (Macaulay Culkin) and Heather (Alexis Dziena) visit a therapist to discuss their passionless relationship. During their sessions, both realize they're as much mentally bored as sexually uninterested. That is, until their therapist recommends group sex. A partner swap with Ellis (Kuno Becker) and Renee (Eliza Dushku) leaves all four lovers realizing that a lasting relationship consists of more than just sex and breakfast.

I watch that last night, TERRIBLE!!! Don't bother. Porn has better quality of acting and scripts, and that's if you take the sex out of porn.

I watched Bi For Me (I think that's what it was called) on netflix awhile back and it was a documentary that wasn't the greatest but I did find one part interesting. The documentary was about bisexuality in women and men (a poor representation of it) but towards the end it showed a bit of a hotel swinger party and a group scene in a room that wasn't supposed to have been staged.

I just watched it. Was it just me, or was the writing on that show incredibly bad?

I half-watched it while messing around on here. To me it felt like the writers had the following thought process:

"I don't have any ideas. Let's watch some old CSI episodes and see what we can steal, I mean 'use for inspiration'. Hey! Swinger neighborhood! Jackpot!"

Hoarders on TLC (one of my guilty pleasure shows) recently featured a couple on their episode "It's just Sex" with a swinger history.

In addition to losing their son, the husband wanted more in the way of sex and she evidently didn't find sex enjoyable (my guess it's hard to find sex enjoyable when you are surrounded by trash and bug strips...). But, he found a woman he worked with and convinced the wife to try a threesome with her. The wife couldn't get into it and didn't enjoy it but he continued to have a relationship with the other woman one on one and they remain friends.... such good friends that after they were evicted from their home due to the hoard, they went to stay with her.

:trainwreck:

I recently watched a re-run of a "House" episode> A husband was admitted to the hospital suffering from a terrible condition. His loving wife was by his side all the time. The husband and wife were swingers and the wife, in a conversation with one of the medical staff, spoke about how swinging was the best thing in their lives. Well it turned out that the wife was secretly poisoning the husband using a heavy metal - gold.

For a minute I really thought that Hollywood was going to portray the Lifestyle in a positive light - mores the pity.

New show on tbs tonight: The Wedding Band.. They show up at a party and the hostess collects everyone's cell phone. Later, I everyone takes a phone out of the bowl. Then they dial their # from the house phone and hook up with whoever is holding it as their "first partner of the night ". Key party. Decent show, too.
