SCcpl40 74 Posted April 5, 2008 We're thankful for the computer age, it made our plunge into the lifestyle easy. Quote Share this post Link to post
DecaturAreaCpl 15 Posted April 5, 2008 We were swinging back in the early 80's and it was nothing like this. We had to put a personal ad in one of the alternative newspapers and have the responses sent to a blind P.O. box. Aside from that, there were weekly "socials" held at various bars by the local swingers club. The idea was to meet a couple you liked and then go to one or the other's homes, or a nearby motel. You never knew what you were going to get and you got used to going home empty handed. Meeting on the internet has not solved all of the problems, since so many people "lie on their resumes". But it beats hell out of the old way. Quote Share this post Link to post
personal416 71 Posted April 5, 2008 If it wasn't for the internet, it's unlikely that we'd have ever investigated, let alone gotten into the lifestyle. Foremost, it offered anonymity when we weren't sure anyone else was doing it, or what it was about. Secondly, it seems to be a clearinghouse for seeing who's available and interested... although wading through the fakes can be a chore. (Those of you that had the opportunity to get into the lifestyle with face-to-face intros at clubs and parties... you already knew the others were 'interested', but I think it's tougher on face-to-face to see if your interests align... reading a profile is so much quicker.) Hell, back in the 80's we didn't even know about "swinging." We had a couple of MFMs and touched on the edges but didn't know about what has been going on for a long time. Such a difference today. tncinmd 55 Posted April 6, 2008 Well, we go back even further. Gee, I remember listening to "The Lone Ranger", "Superman", "Inner Sanctum", etc on the radio . We knew about swinging in the 70's having been approached by more than one couple at various times. We held back because we were still working on us and our relationship, we had no "moral" objection to playing. As to the 'net, I was in the IT biz, so I was an early user, like when 300 baud (bits per second) was smokin' . Ad sites were really free and that's where I set up our first MFM with a guy whose still a good friend and MFM partner these many years later. Couple play we didn't get into until a few years later. She thought I wasn't having enough fun...gotta love her. Anyway, just thought you'd enjoy the experiences of a couple of old fogies . Quote Share this post Link to post
FunCalifCple 17 Posted April 6, 2008 How far back in time do you want go? To summarize our baby boomer generation for the past 50+ years or so, we can categorize the time into three major phases that impacted us all with a rolling summarized impact: 1. The PILL in the early 60’s gave women freedom to say “YES’ without the worry… 2. The VHS tape in the 70’s brought XXX action into our bedrooms… 3. The advent of VIAGRA has allowed us to relive our youth again… We enjoy the physical to the fullest… we are still discovering the emotional aspects and rewards of it…… For those of us with kids past their teens now…. Our three phases of the past 30+ years is just a whatever in their time… Quote Share this post Link to post
