We always use condoms for anal or vaginal penetration. Not for oral though. It does have an adverse affect to my technique though. Should people in the medical profession stop wearing gloves, should I prevent my children from playing with balloons? Should I not sleep on a water bed? What about baby bottles? You may not know this but hospitals in the U.S. have stopped using latex gloves and in many States only Mylar balloons are allow in hospitals.

 

All vulcanized latex is toxic (natural latex is quite harmless but about as elastic as a soggy pizza).

 

The difference between condoms and other applications is that this is the only product rubbed with great force into the most unprotected parts of the body. It is estimated that you would have to wear gloves for a month to get the same amount of toxins in the

If you have latex allergies ALL latex should be avoided but in normal conditions the issue is to have the minimum exposure to latex so allergies do not develop. One can take anything too far but condom use does not fall in this category.

You are not increasing your std risk (from any serious disease) by not using them and are avoiding the chance of cancers and LIDS.

I think it's safe to say, after reading the complete article and not just the first 3.2 paragraphs that it was a misprint and meant to read:

I believe it stated that this was because HPV covers the entire genital region, including those not covered by a condom such as the scrotum, etc and is spread by skin-to-skin contact. Makes sense.. Hard to protect against something the condom doesn't have any contact with! I believe HPV was the only STD specifically mentioned in the article by doctors and the paper as not being effectively protected against by the use of condoms. In fact, there were many parts of the article you overlooked supporting condom use. Such as:

 

"Studies have shown condom use can lower the risk of acquiring HPV infection. … For these reasons, condoms should play an important part in any new or non-monogamous sexual relationship."

Actually Paul, I wasn't intending and don't intend to look up any articles or any type of research or study on condoms whether it be their effectiveness or if they will give me cancer. I was merely commenting on the article you yourself supplied.

 

Personally, I don't care if condoms could possibly give me cancer. Hell, so will the sun but I don't stay indoors. Driving could mangle me beyond recognition...the airbag alone could snap my neck and bruise my face. Second hand cigarette smoke will give me lung cancer, but I still go out clubbing and to bars.

 

What I can do is apply sunblock before sunbathing for the sun or move to the other side of the club. Likewise, for STD's I can put on a condom. Do any of those methods really work or do anything? Maybe so...maybe not... doesn't matter. But it does give me peace of mind and that is good enough for me.

17 million people in the USA have developed latex allergies in the last two decades? That's roughly one out of every 16 people, including every man, woman and child in the nation.
