Question for couples who play with couples

I'm curious. This is a question for those of you who are couples who only play with other couples.

 

Do you prefer:

 

1) A straight swap where all/most of the interaction is one on one?

 

or

 

2) A more fluid foursome type of situation where everyone is playing with everyone (with the exception of the two guys--at least in our case) and just kind of going back and forth and fitting in where you fit.

 

I ask because we've only had a few experiences so far, but we've developed a DEFINITE preference for scenario #2. Since we're still newbies, we don't really have any context. I know there is no right or wrong way of doing things. I'm just wondering which scenario is more typical?

 

I'm also curious why you prefer your choice scenario? In our case, if we get paired off with the other couple, we find we start to feel very disconnected from each other and don't enjoy it as much. Particularly if it starts off as a straight swap, we get distracted by seeing each other with someone else (something that is still somewhat uncomfortable for us) and have a hard time relaxing enough to enjoy the person we are with. But, in the foursome situation, we maintain our connection to each other and we still feel like we are together, but with the added eroticism of more people and all the extra hands and mouths.

No preference exactly, it depends on the couple we are with. More often than not though, we find #2 to be less fun than #1. My guess is that this is because we are both straight. If more than two couples are involved #2 can be more fun.
