Do you avoid contacting someone because they have a screen name you consider undesirable? On the other hand, are some screen names a turn on?

I have avoided people because their name grossed me out or seemed utterly stupid. For example, Cumbubble.

My husband looks at a lot of single guy profiles who I think might be interesting and says, "REALLY?!" The latest was MrCumtastic, which for some reason doesn't seem as bad as cumbubble, to me.

There was a couple with the name OrganicChemistry. I thought that was a really hot, smart name. I wrote them a note saying I knew organic chemistry was hard, but satisfying. I just couldn't help myself, and included a nice message telling them I admired their creativity and profile. They didn't respond. Actually, it was worth it for my own amusement, since so many people never respond anyhow.

We did meet a couple with what I consider the worst profile name of all time. They were really great. I noticed when they joined a new site we're on they didn't use the same name.

Yea, a screen name like HughJorgan is a turn-off for either of us -- too proud. CumDump in any way, shape or form makes me want to retch.

Disclaimer: Any resemblance to any real screen name living or dead is purely coincidental.

Oh absolutely!! MrBig8inch, letmefuckurwife and such are an automatic NO - and my all time least fave real username 9inchesplusatonge [sic]. Seriously, all you can think of to describe yourself is boasting about your skills?

On the flip side, really clever names do pique my interest.

I will admit to judging people on their screen name and giving bonus points for creativity and docking points for what I would qualify as stupidity (or immaturity).

Yep. we have closed private messages and deleted emails because of screen names people use.

Maybe it is a fast judgement but I believe in the saying put the best foot forward.

On the Internet you only have text to work with, make it count.

I'm vain...makes me wonder what some of ya'll think of our screen name!

Along with the tagline, I think it's great. Without it, I'd think it was personal and that it didn't need to mean anything to outsiders. ;)

Anything that uses the words "cum" or "fu©k" or refers to cock size or squirting just makes me roll my eyes and move on.

Great thread! A screen name provides us with our first impression of someone, before the tagline or even pictures. If it's crude or nasty it's a big turnoff, even an awesome profile won't make up for a bad screen name. It's all about marketing yourself so I suppose that if you're looking for sleazy, nasty playmates you're screen name will reflect that.

I agree that screen names are a first impression. I am not a fan of crude unless I happen to be watching a silly movie for humor or jokes are within context.

Crude member names take points off and I may not even look. They say something about the persons mindset. If crude, brash, brazen does it for them, we may be a bad match.

Thanks, maui. :) I actually wanted the tagline to be, "Sunny with a Chance of Sex" but it didn't fit. Since swinging would be something we'd do as a couple and share, I had our screen name be a combination of our two online aliases. It wasn't until afterwards that I realized that people might think the "buckus" part was a typo or play on "fuck us"...which was not my intention at all!

As for other people's screen names, if we did a lot of online profile looking, I could see how screen names could be a turn off. Luckily, we often meet couples first and then see their profile later. The ones that I roll my eyes at are the ones that have their ages (like me35she26). Uhhhh, not very forward thinking because they won't be those ages next year!

"Alura Lee" was our chosen name for a baby girl. It is an anagram of "Laura Lee" & "Al" and includes my mother's and Laura's mother's first names. We got everybody! When Twenty-one turned out to be a boy, we hated to lose the name so we used "Alura" on this board. Since we're not gambling folks, we didn't try again, hoping for a girl. My original idea was "Hick Okie Pair." Laura vetoed that one.

We will skip right over a profile if the screen name or tag is off putting. One time we there was a single female who put in her tag she was willing to steal away a husband. She was hot, but that just did not sit right with us for some reason...

Years ago I suggested that ITCHYandSCRATCHY would be a bad screen name.

Someone had a bit of fun at my expense. :)

:bump:

So, been approving a rash of profile names and was going to create a new thread with a little bit different wording but I think this one was close enough to just bump it.

Putting this a bit differently, do you find negative screen names derogatory or insulting and do you think that often the screen names directly correspond to personalities?

Example Names:

Fuck_my_Holes

FuckmyCumSlut

pussypounder

Where do you draw the cute vs. vulgar line?

I'd even be ok with vulgar if (when) someone does it with creativity.

I mean, literary or historical reference... a (good) play on homonyms... good metaphors. I'm really open to being dazzled.

I also like the ones that seem to be pet names and such. I like that a couple refers to themselves the way their lover does. It adds a bit of real life to the otherwise anonymous internet.

Guest xx1: I actually think your screen name is very cleaver. Wish we would have thought of it before we became GoldCoCouple (but our name kind of tells you approximately where we are located).

What are the examples of good usernames then? The ones that turn you on?

Screen names could be a detriment. I don’t know why I would look at a name and think less of the person posting, but I do. Some names are clever. Even the names I think are foolish someone else will think is funny. To be honest when I look at some names I immediately say that’s a guy. I could be wrong. Our SN may not be clever but it says who we are. I do smile when I see clever names and cringe with crude ones.

On an auction site (no not the big auction site but a local site) there are several people who have names like "Item Removed", "Not For Sale" and "Deleted" so when you are looking at the listing of things being auctioned one tends to jump over them thinking that the item isn't being auctioned any more. Always wished I thought of that first.

Most names don't bother us unless it is one of those names that just say that they are full of themselves or are so bad you groan when you read them.

Yes. There are obvious screen names people select that might give you an insight into their personality. Some good, some bad.

Some people are thoughtful and purposeful in selecting a screen name to attract like minded people.

I personally like fun couples. As you discovered, some people with not too creative screen names can be good people.

      Hello!

We've been purusing ads looking for a single male as of late. We've found that in many cases men will state in their ads that they are "very open minded" or "very kinky" or even "open to new experiences".

For the most part, these men are simply bisexual or bi curious and we're now wondering if there are secret code words and hidden meanings behind other adverts we've come across. Is it common here to use phrases like "very open minded" to indicate that one is bisexual? What other phrases should we key in to?

Ok BE 100% honest people, How many times did you write, delete, rewrite, change, delete and add the HEADLINE and/or DESCRIPTION of your PROFILES. I know there is some bright, word savy, super confident in how they describe themselves individuals and I envy and admire that about you. But for some of us, at least us, it was kinda hard. I mean how do you sum up who you and your mate are as individuals, your sex life, your expectations and try not to sound creepy ALL AT THE SAME TIME?!?!?!? THEN DO IT IN A FEW WORDS ON THE HEADLINE TO ATTRACT PEOPLE!!! LOL

I'm glad to announce ours ended up being LETS HAVE A BLAST. smh I just said fuck it, I know sexually we can hang with the best of them and that we're good down to earth people so LETS HAVE A BLAST it is. To all that went thru our dilemma, cheers! Hope we get contacted, if not we'll be right back trying to come up with some catchy 5 word phrase that says WE WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH YOU BUT I NEED YOU TO WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH US TO SO HERE IS A BRIEF SUMMARY OF WHO WE ARE AND I HOPE IT WORKS! To those who didn't stress, NO sex for you tonight because your headline probably scored you and your partner some bomb ass swinging nights! But we still love you!!!!

Well thanks for reading, we hope our humor tickled you a bit and feel free to share your thoughts!!!

How do you handle privacy on SLS? I am unsure of whether I should put faces in my pics or not. I just don't want these pictures to be harvested by pic collectors or stalkers or things like that. I am debating on what to do.

      Any suggestions?
