Freedom of the Seas 2013 Couples Cruise "mini" review

Recommended Posts

Being this is our fourth Couples Cruise and my third couples cruise review. I'm going to approach this one a bit differently and more to the point. If you are new to the idea of CC cruises, please read my other reviews to get a good idea of what to expect and experience. The second link is outdated, but perhaps informative on a clueless newbs perspective. This review will be more focused on this particular cruise and the lifestyle oriented excursions.

First, the ship: Freedom of the Seas. This ship is one of the bigger RC ships, and while you can see shes getting a bit “tired” in places, its still very nice. I read the next Nov cruise will be on a newer ship, but if it was the Freedom I wouldn't complain.

Second, the crew/service: Very nice as usual. The main dining room was still slow and something of a mess at times, but we only had “bad” service once (last day of course). Otherwise things were maybe slightly improved from previous cruises. Many of the crew seemed to be enjoying themselves on the cruise.

Third, the food: If you read my first review, I complained a lot about the food. The food was far better on the last Nov and April cruises and even slightly improved for this one, so RC got their act together.

Ok thats the boring stuff, what about the swinging, lifestyle, sex stuff?

Well we had a really really good time but yea anyways on to the less specific....

First let me state that the hardest part about being off the ship is remembering that “pat the ass” is NOT acceptable behavior when you greet a woman you know. Neither is french kiss, boob groping, or doing an underwear check. This makes me sad, but alas...

There were the usual play rooms (minus the darkroom) and the usual complaints about not enough beds in the main play room, but otherwise no changes there. The Chocolate room was moved to its own area which seemed a good idea as well. This is all second hand as we never even made it into the playrooms for our usual “walk around, too full, lets find a stateroom”. I didn't hear a lot of complaints though beyond the lack of beds after 11pm or so.

The Parties were the usual wonderful insanity you get when you combine a LOT of swingers, alcohol, and freedom to be themselves. In other words they were off the hook and a blast.

But let me get to one issue we had with the parties. They started usually at 11pm and often went to 2-3am. The usual in our circle seemed to be dinner, hang out in front of the “bull and bear” pub waiting for people to show up, wait some more, go to the dance floor, figure out that nights play partners, stateroom, 3am buffet.

Why so late is the question EVERYONE was asking. We have a ship full of swingers, we don't need babysitters, we have been hanging out ALL day, no one was at work, we are ready to have fun! We heard this from a lot of couples, from 20's to 60's in age. And while we found the late nights a bit annoying (we are getting to old for 3am every day) I do have to wonder if the parties started earlier if the people complaining would show up. It seems having sex in the WEEE hours of the morning is a swinger tradition in the non-playroom crowd. The playroom crowd seems to ignore the parties all together and gets down to business. So while a 9pm start would have been nice, especially on the day the party officially didn't start until 12pm, I won't claim to know it would have been better. I will say this though, I'd guess that Red Bull sales were a large part of RC's profit. Being people have had this complaint every cruise, I'm guessing its one of those things people complain about but is still necessary.

Theme nights: A lot of people this cruise really got into the theme nights, and there were some pretty elaborate costumes. I am happy to say though, we were the only smurfs on blue night and my wife makes a perfect smurfette. If you go, bring costumes, they are fun.

Classes/shows/etc: I can't really give a good review here because this cruise more than any others we took less advantage of these activities as we were busy taking advantage/being taken advantage of, by fellow guests. We did see one show, that they swinger oriented for this cruise (the Quest show) and it was very good, but the only reason we saw it, is we were waiting for the party to start, at 12, and since the show ran late the party started at 12:30. Personally I call this a good thing, we took a vanilla cruise and you NEEDED the shows to pass the time and avoid being insanely bored. On a CC cruise, being bored is a choice ;)

Excursions: We did the lifestyle excursions exclusively this trip. That was a clothing optional beach on Jamaica run by the Hedo people, and a clothing optional water park on Cozumel. Both were quite good. The Water Park was outstanding, clean, fun, and we had a good time there, food was basic. The Jamaican one was a bit more crowded, but the food was excellent (jerk pork and chicken). I was a bit leery because the only time I've felt honestly ripped off on these cruises was a excursion we had to “Black Beards Estate” which was close to 100 per person, OVER crowded, and they served expired food and drink. We were taken advantage of in that one. I don't know the story behind that one, but on this cruise they were outstanding and well worth the money, and my hunch is that the company on the Island is to blame for the bad experience as everything CC has done has been very good.

Meet and Greets: This they mixed up a bit from our earlier cruises. Almost daily they had M&G's for various play types and over/under 45. This was nice, being you didn't “miss” the M&G and never had another chance. The hard part was getting people there are the same time. The under 45 was almost always done in Studio B, which is the ice rink/dance floor. The problem was its HUGE, and people would arrive, see no one there, leave. Another group would do the same 5 minutes later etc. Bar venues would probably work better but either way it was still a nice attempt to bring new couples together. Some of them were very well attended, some empty (due to the flow). We got to know 2 of the couples cruise couples well and when they worked it we helped create a sort of “critical mass” of people and had good attendance.

Ages: I am editing this in as I forgot to mention it. Age ranges on this cruise seemed more spread out than some of our past ones. We had NO problem finding couples our ages, and there seemed to even be a good sized crowd in their 20's. While on our first cruise we felt like the "kids" on the cruise, this cruise we were definitely not in the youngest group.

Commentary: On a personal level we have a hard time rating this cruise compared to our past ones. It was outstanding in some ways, and less so in others. Its 100% based on the people we meet. I asked my wife where she would put this cruise in “ratings” with our last two (our first was our worst but that was due to our newbieness) and she couldn't place it either. All have been different and all have been fun and its all about who you meet and how social you want to be. We are torn right now if we will be doing the cruise next May and November. The reason we are torn is we have friends going on both who we really like, the kind that makes us wish we could move to other cities, and its a chance to be with them again. We are doing November for sure and keeping our fingers crossed on May. May the babysitting god smile upon us.

Which brings me to another interesting thing about these cruises. There is definitely a “cruise community” of sorts now. We met more people on their 2nd plus cruise than on their first. I'm not sure what the ratio was, but a good number were not newbies. Many we had met before, or at the very least seen. There were lots of friendly people who were not our play type but still great to talk to we got to chat with and hang out with from past cruises. My wife, has enjoyed them so much that she wants to see if she can do official pole dancing classes (shes a certified instructor). Every cruise she has been giving impromptu lessons on the outdoor poles set up and we had quite a group going our last sea day (despite high winds). Not sure if thats even possible, but it shows how these events have become part of our lives, even if its only 2 weeks a year or so. We also got lucky in that three of the couples working for CC were from our home town. We had never met them before, and hope to see them soon locally.

All I can say is these cruises have been something we look forward to for months in advance, and I'd like to thank Bob, Wayne, and the hard working (they really do) CC members for making these a reality.

Like so many thing, a love-hate relationship.

But, really, it seems you both had a fun time. I'm envious.

This was our fourth lifestyle vacation and our second lifestyle cruise.

The first cruise was back this past April where we were on the Brilliance of the Seas out of San Juan. The Brilliance (for those of you who are not familiar with RCCL ships) is a smaller ship. The atmosphere was a bit cozier but we prefer the larger ships with the amenities so we loved the Freedom of the Seas.

This was our second cruise (previous one vanilla with family) on the Freedom so one perspective that I would offer is that we noticed zero differences in the level of service from the family cruise versus the swinger cruise. The most noticeable differences between the two types of cruises is that on the vanilla cruise, all of the action seems to be in the casino at night whereas the swinger cruise is in the bars/dance clubs.

We ran into three couples that we had met previously on the Brilliance Cruise, although we only really hung out with one of them this time and made an entirely new set of friends which worked out well for us. There is something really nice in what’s “known and comfortable” but the unknown tends to be more exciting.

I’ll briefly touch on the boring things…meals. As Chicup stated, these can be very slow depending on when you arrive. Unlike a vanilla cruise, where it’s more structured, people just show up at the dining times and it’s a bit more chaotic. I truly believe this has some measurable impact on the service but overall, it was not too bad with our only really slow night, night five. We had an unusually large table that night so who knows if that was part of the issue or if the delay was just that more people than usual showed up that night. Questions we may never know the answers too

The days were basically, roll out of bed, eat breakfast, and then get naked by the pool. On the cooler days, it was naked in the hot tub. I swear I put on 10 lbs from drinking alone, four of which are already off ;) We took advantage of some of the nice things the cruse had to offer such as the flo-rider and the rock climbing wall. They wouldn't let us climb naked and I’m not really sure what the problem was with that, ha-ha.

The dinners were always later by design because if you ate the earlier dinners, it left you with about four hours to kill until the parties started. Like Chicup said, Midnight is ridiculous times for swingers to get going. The socializing before was great but the dancing was always the highlight.

(PS – Our team won THE QUEST) – Yes, MD and I were team captain’s for team one and beside some major cool points lost, they gave us a nice medals to make us feel better. MD said I looked way too happy skipping around the dance floor holding another guy’s hand – I’m like, whatever it takes to fucking win!!!!!!!!!! (yeah, don’t judge me, ha-ha)

As a general observation, it doesn’t matter where we go, Caribe, Hedo, Cruises, the entertainment/dance clubs never seem to open until at least 11 pm. I believe this is designed to tire out the hardcore drinkers. They get too sleepy and pass out early thus keeping the drama at bay. Just my guess on the matter.

Unlike Chicup, where it seemed they waited until they all assembled in the club to determine who was swapping with who for the evening, we had already had sex with our friends by 7 pm and were just out to have a really good time. It seemed to work out to be less stressful on us because after we were tired dancing, we gave kisses/hugs and went home. We were not beholden to anyone’s schedule. Highly recommend that to anyone going on the next cruise. This is where having an aggressive wife really plays to our advantage!!

On the cruises, generally speaking, I think you reach a point where the newness (of a swinger cruise) wears off and you become a little disenchanted with them. We are not near that point but I will say that there was nothing new or surprising that happened from the first cruise to this cruise. It was just on a nicer, bigger ship with different themes.

We like getting out into different ports and shopping so for MD, swinging and shopping (two of our favorite things) how can that ever be bad? Those that are new would absolutely love the cruises, those that are not so new (cruisers) maybe not so much but it all depends on what you are looking to get out of the cruise.

The nice thing about the bigger ship is that even on the last few days, we were still meeting people. That was a significant difference between the Brilliance and the Freedom Cruises. We will be on the Nov 2014 Independence cruise. We do like the people we meet and the activities enough to recommend them. Even though we were not truly in our zone on this one (didn’t put in the gym time we like to get into our ‘sexy’ mindsets, just coming off a move from FL to CT and the stresses of a new job) it still exceeded our expectations as far as casual acquaintances and intimate partners

Not in a good place to comment right now, but thanks for your take. I'm hoping our other SB cruiser gives hers for a more complete picture.

In all our swinging, we have NEVER had sex before 7pm. I didn't know that was allowed ;)

I think that was my cue...

Sex before 7pm, swinging sex anyway, is a totally novel idea and one I'll have to keep in mind for future lifestyle events. Who knew? ;) Until last week, I could say I'd neglected to wash my face and brush my teeth before bedtime less than half dozen times, but it happened twice on the cruise. I don't actually care what the reason is for the crazy late start to activities, it doesn't actually make a ton of sense for most of us. We followed breakfast and time at the pool/hot tub with a very long nap on all but two of the days, but that wasn't enough to compensate for a week's worth of early mornings and late nights.

We were both dealing with some temporary but quite annoying physical limitations, which weren't helped by being on a ship, which is like being on a Bosu ball all the time, so our dancing was limited to the R&B band that played nightly at the very top of the ship. That part alone is reason enough to consider a second cruise, without even factoring in how much damned fun we had, because that's not a lot of dancing.

The highlight was the people, those we played with and those we met just to talk to. I can't recall a single less than entertaining interaction. Oddly, most of the people we met were on their first cruise, just like us, so maybe there's an invisible line separating the newbies from the experienced cruisers. Everyone was wildly enthusiastic about their experience, too, and most were at least contemplating a return visit next November. We will decide in May or June, once the afterglow is long gone, but even if we don't book for 2014, we had an amazing time and we're glad we did it.

We had great service in the dining room on the night we were a party of 11. The rest of the nights, the service ranged from not good to Keystone Kops (that's code for Dear God, have you ever waited tables before?). To put that into context, I'm rarely critical of waitstaff, who start with my unbounded affection for bringing me food that I haven't cooked on dishes I don't need to wash and really have to work to even bring me down to neutral. However, the food was good and fairly inventive, although I could have used more veggies, larger salads and smaller portions of starchy carbs. That's just me, though. I think most people would have been happy with the balance.

We did one circuit of the playroom on one night and, although we had invitations onto already occupied spaces, we did the stateroom thing instead. I think it was about 11pm, which fits right in with Chicup's observation of when the place filled up. We visited the dungeon/chocolate room/porn room only once, during the first day when they weren't open for play. Yes, I was hoping the chocolate room was a place for food play, but no. Instead, it was staffed by "15 really cool black dudes." After that explanation (remember, this is a couples only cruise unless the few singles were staying in a stateroom with and sponsored by a couple), I didn't want to have swinger sex ever again. At least not for the next hour or three. However, because the universe really does love me, on our last night our dinner companions were two of the 15 men and their girlfriends. The conversation was quite lively, super interesting and very informative. I don't think I'd ever go to the chocolate room on future cruises either, because I have a big ole dislike on for fetishizing race, but I have an appreciation for what they do - at least those two gentlemen - and why they do it. I really liked what they had to say about how important it is to them to fulfill couples' fantasies.

We missed pretty much all the on board activities like rock climbing, couples' speed dating, talks on various aspects of sexuality - even though we would have enjoyed many of them - because we were napping at the relevant times. Because it was the only way we could stay up until 3. Because the parties didn't start before 11 or 12. Because somebody thinks that is a good idea. Somebody who isn't us.

What would we do differently? We would arrive a day early, because going to bed at midnight, getting up at 2:30am and flying all day is kinda brutal and results in some bad jet lag. Renting a hotel room for the last day, because a nap and time at the pool would have been a lot more fun than hanging out at the airport with our luggage for hours and hours. More dancing. Fewer shore excursions (the beach in Jamaica was fun, but we would have been happy just walking around in Cozumel). More condoms. Bribe our stateroom attendant for more towels on a daily basis.

Anyway, we had a great time, met a lot of great people, had some really intense reconnecting time, slept a lot, got some sun stored up against the long, dark Northwestern winter and just might do it again next year.

Once again, I am compelled to say that I am envious. I appreciate seeing your mini reports. You would all make good advertisements for lifestyle cruises.

I agree with your statement. We were able to invite some of them back to our room during off hours and enjoy MFM's. It was tough for us to find the guys with hall passes and the chocolate room provided an opportunity to explore this option. After a great experience we've already started setting up some dates with single males in our local area. One of them is of the chocolate flavor but it has nothing to do with race. He's just a friendly, good looking guy with some great certs :D .

My first, and second impression of the chocolate room was the same thing, and its most definitely "not our thing" for a lot of reasons, but there seems to be a high demand for it so to each their own. I still wanted to have swinger sex though after I first figured it out ;)

We did attempt to go to the speed dating once. Our friends tried three times with the last time together with us. Here is the problem with the speed dating, and this was our opinion of our one experience, you show up at the lounge and there are three couples there, one cute couple in their 30's and two couples much older. The cute couple beats feet out of there. In walks two other older couples, then another, followed by another very young couple. They sit next to us, we look at each other, they smile, we smile, we look around, a few others show up, again, much older and the six of us get up and leave.

It would have been nice to to have a few age defined naked speed dating events like the meet and greets. (MD said maybe they did and we missed them but I never saw them).

Yea, we never even tried the speed dating events on any cruise because we figured it would be a lot of hi, nice to meet you, no interest but nice to meet you. We only met one couple that mentioned it and they were pretty negative about the whole experience being everyone there was 20+ years older than they were. Age based would be a little better, and might be a nice idea to throw out there, but I wonder if attendance would be any better. One thing that would be nice, would be if there was a more "MCish" style to these things. Things like speed dating would be best for shy/new couples who need a little help breaking the ice. Thats something the hedo people were very good at, at the beach excursion. I think the problem would be just finding people able to do that. Most of the CC people are basically volunteers, they get a "free" cruise but they also spend much of their time working it. All have been REALLY good people, but they are not going to all be good at that sort of thing, its a art.

I think its a cute idea but its one of those things which would require to much organizational effort to make work well. They did have a newbie meet and greet (and we were not 100% sure if that was new cruisers or new swingers, we figured swingers) and such but when it comes down to it, its all going to be individual effort in terms of hooking up.

One thing I was going to talk about in my review and forgot, is there seems to be a bit of "us" and "them" on the cruise in terms of what people want. Every cruise has a 70's theme party it seems, and about everyone we met under 40, wanted an 80's style or something else, basically anything else, Pirate Night seemed to win on that one. Now I agree with the idea since I find the 70's theme boring myself, I just can't get into it, BUT being the 70's was when a good number of cruisers were first doing their thing its completely understandable why they would enjoy it. Talking to one of the CC DJ's there was a bit of a war with music style/requests based on age. I forget exactly how he said it but the end result was you can't really mix music styles in a party, it tends to please no one and kill the party. Luckily there were multiple venues for them.

Another thing I forgot to mention was they had a live band on this cruise, unlike our past ones. They were very good and were a very nice touch. It really helped break the monotony of the pool deck same "party" songs over and over we had on our past cruises (especially our first one). Everyone we talked to seemed to enjoy it.

After talking it over with my wife we are definitely going to try to go on both cruises next year.

My wife and I are now feeling as if we were the only two people who were not on that boat. We were at a private house party yesterday evening and two of the couples, one our age and one younger, told us they had taken the same cruise as yours. They were relating similar stories; not being allowed to climb the rock wall naked, the speed dating (younger couple said they would bring a PowerPoint next time), the exhibitionist guy with the big fuzzy dick attached to his pants, the group rooms, the band, etc. All four said they want to do it again next year.

Very good point about the MC'ing and as I reflect back at many of the events, you can tell the difference between a cruise activity the way it's lead vs. the swinger cruise activities. They are all very good but the cruise director is fantastic at getting the events going. Even looking at the theme nights, Mardi Gras and 70's were the only two nights that things actually happened in the promenade. I'm talking a party like environment. Those were two of the best nights going.

Themes, I think everyone likes the 70's theme because of the whole Austin Power's movies. You can get very creative but the best night, in our opinion, was the super hero/villain night because like Mardi Gras and 70's, almost everyone participated. I love the events where people can rally behind the themes and get a party started. It would be nice to see more creative themes like those because you can take just about take anything and make it sexy. School Girl and Fetish are so boring these days.

We did enjoy the band. They played a very nice mix of favorites and hopefully, they will bring them back on future cruises.

See, we only met one couple that liked the 70's night (when themes were talked about) and I think that was you :). But you can't please everyone at all times so I'm fine with it. Superheroes/villains was great, we agree.

Okay, guilty as charged (and the funny thing is that was the lamest night for MD and I as far as costumes went...okay, except for blue night). We do like the 70's night but in our defense (not that we really need to defend ourselves, lol) we like it because it's one of the biggest nights as far as energy. The promenade was fired up, dancing, lots of fun.

Besides the 70's night and Mardi Gras, the promenade was basically sleepy every other night by comparison.

Wait until you see us in Nov 2014!!! We are going to get the themes and go seriously over the top!

This was our first Lifestyle cruise. It was sort of a "working" trip for us as we were involved with the Sybian seminars/demonstrations. Hopefully if you attended either you enjoyed Mrs. RnS' performance. It was truly a treat being on the main stage for our second demo.

We weren't really sure what to expect, but have to say it exceeded everything we thought. Count us in for loving 70's night. We had a great time. Mardi Gras night was the other spectacular theme night.

The food in the main dining room was average, the company was what made the meal. We decided to sit with a different group each night and meet new people. We did eat in each of the "specialty" restaurants and have to say they were the food highlight of the trip.

The shore excursions were great except for Haiti. It was incredibly hot and even though there were many topless women that day we were eventually told it was NOT a clothing optional location and the Haitian police were on their way. Back to the ship we went. The water park in Cozumel was a blast, the bartenders made a great Miami Vice and kept us filled with those all day. The floating obstacle course wore us the hell out. Lost my glasses in the water 3 times, thankfully there was a mask available and I found them each time. See if I forget my floating croakies again. The beach in Jamaica was great fun, we met some really cool people that day. Let me tell you, if you weren't on the last bus of the day you really missed out. It will forever be known as the Jamaican Bang Bus. If you were there you know exactly what I'm talking about. That should have been captured on film.

It was so cool just to wander around the ship at night, mini golfing at midnight, dancing until the wee hours and of course the naked fun with our new friends. There was definitely someone for everyone. Young or old, fit or not, there was debauchery to be had. We are so glad that they're doing a West Coast cruise in May, we'll be on it. If we didn't meet you on this trip, we hope to on the next.

There was definitely someone for everyone. Young or old, fit or not, there was debauchery to be had. We are so glad that they're doing a West Coast cruise in May, we'll be on it. If we didn't meet you on this trip, we hope to on the next.

Was that the bus where one woman was too drunk to put her clothes back on and get off nude at the port, or was that the bus back from the LS resort trip on Jamaica?

I heard stories of that last bus, we were not on that last bus, but one a couple before. Our bus had a fight over country music, it was not much of a bang bus.

... I really liked what they had to say about how important it is to them to fulfill couples' fantasies........

Did we meet? Along with participating in local chocolate rooms, I've also participated in cruise and convention chocolate rooms on occasion. :-)

Hello everybody.  Married MW couple for 18 years today.  We have been out of the LS for 5 years but prior to that we where in the life style for about 10 years and had a great time.  We are in our mid forties and going on the bliss cruise in November.  This will be our first swinger cruise.

The question is, How is mm bisexual play seen in the LS community on this Cruise?

In our past experience it was always accepted FF bi play but MM was pretty frowned upon.  My husband and I have had a couple MMF in the past and had a great time.  We are hopping to find that again.  There is something  that I just love watching him get it from another guy and sharing the other guy orally together.

Any and all comments greatly appreciated and recommendations encouraged.

We just returned from our stay at Hedonism 2 in Jamaica and the worst part of it was having to leave. I wanted to thank everyone here and those that left reviews elsewhere for your recommendation. We were NOT disappointed. While many people are in different stages of the lifestyle with different interests, I wanted to provide my feedback to help them decide or provide some insight for those just getting started in the lifestyle.

The facility was laid out very well, while they have a nude side and a prude side, either side is perfectly fine to choose and it is a very short walk should you choose to explore. The so called prude side, housing and beach, is the perfect place to spend the morning recovering from the night before or simply hang out in a quiet place for peaceful morning, relaxation and enjoy a more private intimate moment with your spouse or simply open a book to read. Clothing is optional, so do expect to see both nude, partially nude and fully clothed people.

The Nude side, is the perfect place for party time, anything goes to the wildest and most open forms in sexual interaction. The best way to describe the beach is 0 to 10. You can choose to be totally isolated at the very end of the beach where it starts on the border to the next resort and can walk down to the other end  which ends up being a non stop 24/7 party! You can basically walk along (a short easy walk) and choose to stay wherever you like. While being nude is required for this side, you can still expect to see some people with some sort of covering, sheer/lace, hat even a sarong.

      Logistics:
The Food is delicious, all kinds of food available for just about every taste, the staff is also familiar to help you with any food allergies and sensitivities. Don't hesitate to ask should you have some concerns regarding the ingredients, the staff is very friendly and happy to get any questions answered. On one occasion, (Asian Food Night) the chef came out personally went over which dishes contained gluten and pointed out what was safe. I stopped him half way through because there was more than enough to eat. Plates, Silverware, Napkins were all very clean, staff visited the table often to top off drinks and take away any plates.

The Bars were fully stocked, the drinks were properly mixed and no sense of being watered down or weak like we saw at other resorts. If you want an extra strong drink, they were happy to oblige but the standard drink was as you would expect.
While they didn't have bottled water, you are given a reusable container with plenty of fill stations. The refill stations throughout the resort are triple filtered with UV to provide safe clean drinking water. The water was clean, odorless and tasted as you would expect from bottled water.

The pools were clean and open to everyone, most of which are clothing optional with the exception of the one group of pools at the end of the nude side which was nude only. While there are several small pools through the resort, it was no trouble to find one that you can enjoy alone time with your mate. Same would go for hot tubs, plenty to choose from, private and open both nude and clothing optional.
The nude side has a row of pools, semi warm one with a swim up bar, snack bar, wading pool (warm), waterfall that is a fence for a more private cave, large open hot pool, large cold pool and a smaller hot tub which is very warm. All of which are connected and easy to jump from pool to pool.

      Nude Side:
      - Do expect 99% to be Nude
      - Do expect to view open sexual activity, everywhere, on the beach, on the deck, around the pool, in the pool, on the floating dock, in the water, on the sand...... everywhere but inside the restaurants.

      Maintenance:
While some did frown upon one pool or one room being closed as a given time, this is a good thing to be honest. The resort is basically a 24/7 establishment, there has to be a time where they perform maintenance and not every single room can be open 100% of the time. The resort is working hard to keep the property updated and clean, the closing of some rooms and pools should be expected. Nobody wants to go to a 'run down' resort. They are very conscious to maximize up time. For example, when we arrived the "Kamasutra Palace" was closed, we were a little upset at the moment but we saw that it was being repainted, new lighting fixtures being installed, floors being refinished and the whole building inside and outside being pressure washed. The next day, we went to find the other play room, just to find it closed but a sign hanging stating that the Kamasutra Palace was reopened and taking the place of the second play room. The same maintenance was going on there at the time. So there was always a play room open and while closing of any room sucks, it is nice to know they are keeping the buildings maintained and clean.

We saw two pools closed during our stay which was no big deal as there were still many to choose from. I was surprised that they drained one pool, scrubbed, painted, made repairs and was refilled and back in operation within 48 hours. I've seen pools closed for weeks at hotels to make these types of repairs. I saw their crew out there in the dark working until it was reopened.

Rooms: While the rooms were nice they were a little 'dated', wondering if they would be renovated anytime soon..... We then noticed 4 rooms with work crews gutting them for renovation, so do expect to see a new look on the other rooms the future
Our room had one small issue, a drip of condensation from the A/C Unit, before we can even make a report, the maid noticed it and automatically contacted the A/C Repair Folks, they were in there during the daily cleaning and had it fixed in about 20 minutes.

Beaches: The beaches were cleaned daily of leaves and debris but no real trash was ever noticed. The beaches and water were very clean, plenty of towels stocked, plenty of seating and hammocks to relax in. Some of the rooms also had private hot tubs on the deck facing the beach, a few in which we visited, all of which were cleaned and treated daily, good condition and proper working order.

Security: The beach is patrolled with several safety/security officers. None of which were a bother, they would greet you with a smile. I didn't see any of them up close to 'personal activity' but kept their distance. They were very professional and just let people do what they wanted for the most part. If there was some activity that kicked off, I noticed an officer excuse himself from that area and simply moved a little further away to provide privacy. The officers would routinely look in another direction and not take the scenes as a movie for them to watch. The staff was the same way, basically walk by and ignore the activity, no judging, no finger pointing, very very professional.
We did have one interaction, while we met some new friends, one of them required an 'assisted' walk back to her room due to a little intoxication, as she was staying in the room next to us, we offered to walk her back, not due to a security concern but more of a trip and fall consideration. We were approached by security and was kindly asked what was "going on here" we explained and all was well, they did keep an eye to ensure there wasn't something else taking place but allowed us to go on our own and kept a good distance.

      Guests:
The best part of the trip were the people there. We have never met such a great group of people in our entire life. The people were non judging, open, very easy to talk to, happy to converse with anyone. The demographics of the group was better than expected. If you're worried about a certain age group or nationality, let it be known that it is a very diverse group of people. We've met people of all age groups, even a few in their 70's, all sizes, shapes, colors, classes, singles, couples. There is simply something or someone for everyone, no matter your level of participation in the lifestyle, you will not be disappointed. The people were very respectful.

I highly recommend this resort to anyone, even if you're not currently practicing in the lifestyle, it is an experience that you will not forget.
If anyone has any questions, I will do my best to answer.

Ok, I'm going to sound like a newby, but that's because I am lol. The wife and I are going on our first cruise in a few days. It's not a "swingers cruise", but I've heard that there are usually tons of swingers on any cruise. My question is, how do we spot them? I know about the pineapple thing, but i also assume that pineapples are a  pretty common thing on a Carribean cruise. We are 3 years deep in the lifestyle but, so far, we only swing with one other couple, so we have zero experience in approaching potential playmates. We are not going on the cruise to actively seek out new playmates, but would like to be ready if the opportunity arises. My questions are:

      1. Is there a way to spot swingers and, if so, how?
      2. Once we have determined that a couple are swingers, how do we start the conversation?
      3. Is there a way that we can make ourselves visible to other couples that might be in the same boat as us?

Hi, We are considering visiting Cherry Lane resort in Michigan. Can we hear some personal experiences? Any chance to have sex in public? (or semi-public area ???)

      Thank you!
