asncpl 729 Posted February 11, 2015 My husband shaves his pubic hair and I get my brazilian wax regularly. At a coed communal spa we frequent, where everyone walks, talks and relaxes in their birthday suit, we often strike up conversations with others. And one of the questions we get asked the most is why does my husband shave, which usually goes with the comment that it's uncommon to see a man shaves his pubic hair. We usually say it makes for better sex for us, since we don't usually tell strangers we are swingers. And from other shaved people, we get a nod of acknowledgement to that answer. So I am wondering, forget about the lifestyle for a moment, if you see someone who is bald below in a vanilla setting, like a spa or a nude beach, do you presume that person to be more sexual, as in being more sexually active, kinky, or sexually adventurous? Does the perception differ if it's a man, a woman, or a couple (both shaved/waxed)? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
sunbuckus 3,567 Posted February 11, 2015 What an interesting question, asncpl! If you were to ask me this same question 5 years ago, I would have thought that men shaving down below was just odd...no sexual connotation. Sort of like any man who shaves his legs and he isn't a cyclist...it would seem odd. But as a swinger, I would definitely have a question in my mind if they are swingers and such. After all, for vanilla men, I still think it's weird for them to consider even shaving down below. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
MrDiscover 802 Posted February 11, 2015 No, I would not presume that, I think it is very common to be shaven (both men and women). Quote Share this post Link to post
oc1234 435 Posted February 11, 2015 I am a nudist so I see many nude men and women. In the last few years, a great number of men of all ages shave their pubic hair. Sure, some of us are also swingers, but the majority are not. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Glida 250 Posted February 11, 2015 I remember undressing for the first time in front of my husband and his first comment was "WHAT are you doing with all that hair???" I had just left cold, rainy England where nobody that I knew shaved. I Then movied to Israel where everybody shaves, everything! It might be because it's a hot country and the beach is close to everywhere but we deffinitely feel sexier when we both shave. Quote Share this post Link to post
tribbles 490 Posted February 11, 2015 We see nudists and swingers both with and without hair. We also hear more and more of normal vanilla shaving, trimming, and a few staying natural. I don't think it's good to think shaved = swinging. Quote Share this post Link to post
ifonly 21 Posted February 11, 2015 I am a guy and I have been shaving for the last nine years. I feel that I am more sexually sensitive and cleaner. Quote Share this post Link to post
AskMeOk 148 Posted February 11, 2015 Depending on the group you are around, it might mean a LOT of things to them... from he is a body builder, to he is a cross dresser, or maybe.... bisexual or more. Generally, if a guy manscapes (and as a guy, I think they should) they stop at trimming, not shaving.... so, if it seems a "bit much" it can create some curiosity. This isn't an it IS what it IS sorta thing, this is an it IS as it is PERCEIVED. Rightly, wrongly, or mythologically! Just think of it as a conversation starter.... Quote Share this post Link to post

AskMeOk 148 Posted February 12, 2015 Again, if your perception is that "shaved is better," it IS better. Go for it. Personally, I am a middle of the road kinda guy... I just don't want to do a Wookie. I remember in the 60's and 70's, there was so much pubic hair, oral sex often was often interrupted with the "cat with a hairball" sound and activity. However, we had to wait for women to decide that shaving was NOT yet another example of male chauvinist attitude and attempted domination..... Then, there are people that actually LIKE the Wookie thing..... What the hell.... something for EVERYBODY.... Quote Share this post Link to post
cplnuswing 4,713 Posted February 12, 2015 That's a really interesting question, and although I hadn't really given it much thought before now, I would say that yes, to me shaven carries connotations of more sexual, and I had that opinion both before and after becoming a swinger. Like any connotation, just because you have it doesn't mean it's true though. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
JandKinBoise 858 Posted February 12, 2015 This thread made me think...when was the last time I saw a guy with hair on his balls. Other than mine, years ago. I have no idea if it has anything to so with swinging, but assumed it was at least sexual. I have shaved my balls before and the effect was like wearing tight spandex underwear. Just to much attention from my mind directed to my crotch. Geezus, like that isn't already an issue, no need to amp it. I have a beard trimmer I use 2 or 3 times a year, when I notice I'm getting too warm down there. Like was stated, whatever works for you, do that. I did a full shave one time and was absolutely mortified at how I looked. 'Sexy' was way down the list, under wtf, holy shit, train wreck, gross, and about 20 more! But, that's me. asncpl 729 Posted February 12, 2015 interesting responses! I wasn't trying to get at whether it's true or not that shaved means more sexual with the thread but just what comes to your mind when you see a person with shaved pubic area. It looks like a shaved guy is more uncommon and may get a more sexual perception than shaved female? Another interesting observation from the responses: it seems rather common for both sexes to be shaved in some countries...ones with nice nude beaches. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
cplnuswing 4,713 Posted February 12, 2015 I would agree a shaved guy is less common, but I have the same perception on anyone shaved, male and female. Quote Share this post Link to post
M1F2KTJ 473 Posted February 14, 2015 I respect your choices but my preference is unshaven. In my opinion being shaved does not indicate any kind of sexual signal. Quote Share this post Link to post
