njbm 2,901 Posted June 18, 2015 I think it's rude to just get down to it. We often serve cheese, crackers and fruit. Anyone else have ideas? Anything romantic served? 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
sunbuckus 3,569 Posted June 18, 2015 We aren't able to host and invite others but an obvious appetizer could be chocolate covered strawberries or a platter of various fresh fruits and/or raw veggies. I've seen chex mix offered as well as little pizza rolls (from the freezer section at the store). Some do a crock pot full of little smokie sausages or cheese dip with chips. cplnuswing 4,713 Posted June 18, 2015 Fruit platter and/or meat and cheese tray for nibbling has worked for us. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
SW_PA_Couple 4,026 Posted June 18, 2015 Just nothing having garlic or onion flavoring. And no hot peppers; if transferred from lips to naughty bits, causes discomfort. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
asncpl 730 Posted June 19, 2015 We stay with cheese and crackers, and sometimes some cold cuts from an italian deli. We just make sure nothing is overly pungent or would cause bad breath. Quote Share this post Link to post
JHugh 24 Posted June 19, 2015 One of the best house party groups we were involved in had a basic pot luck meals like regular couples except we then got naked and had sex later. Usually light fare, sometimes had a cookout. Quote Share this post Link to post
angelkin 1,326 Posted June 20, 2015 I love making chocolate covered strawberries! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

celtic239 297 Posted July 8, 2015 We hosted a party about a month ago during Cinco De Mayo. We got a platter of mixed Subway sandwiches, some chicken quesideas (?sp) chesse/crackers and chips. We asked some of the guests to bring small desserts. We didn't serve any food containing a bean product or garlic/onions. Quote Share this post Link to post
MrDiscover 802 Posted July 8, 2015 When on a hotel date, we offer the guests some light snacks. Salty nuts (no pun intended), crackers, cheese cookies, fruit muffins. Nice fruit juices an lots of mineral water. Nothing too spicy, with garlic or onions. We always bring our own plates and best glasses because in most hotels glasses are small, cheap or even plastic. Besides, most rooms have only 2 glasses. Quote Share this post Link to post

angelkin 1,326 Posted July 11, 2015 Angelkin: The more we hear about you, the more we really like you! And you have a dungeon as well! Well, thank you!! Perhaps we should enjoy a meal together sometime...I travel for business and CA has often been a destination. Quote Share this post Link to post
GoldCoCouple 4,068 Posted July 13, 2015 But of course. We would welcome that. Quote Share this post Link to post
econobiker 165 Posted July 19, 2015 See my profile pictures for pictures of the July 4 2014 spread for the house parties we helped cohost. Probably heavy on this one, most a little lighter, New Year's Eve parties more because of cheap champagne for midnight toasting, then 1:30am breakfasts of sausage, bacon, eggs, toast, orange juice etc. Even if you don't get laid, you never go hungry at our parties! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Bob250 74 Posted July 29, 2015 As a single man, I've only hosted a couple of house parties, so I stick with fruit and veggie trays or meat and cheese. I can also say , from experience........NOTHING STICKY!!!!! Quote Share this post Link to post

I hope this is ok to say but these two are amazing hosts!! How did I just realize who you are?? Maybe because the screen name and SLS name doesn't match lol 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Bob250 74 Posted August 3, 2015 One thing...I refused to have beer at my two parties. I made homemade Sangria (my own recipe) and it was well received. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
M1F2KTJ 473 Posted August 8, 2015 Strawberries sliced in half with a honey dip (for the ladies) and mini meatballs in a warmer tray (for the guys) but not limited to. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Bob250 74 Posted August 10, 2015 What about fondue? I have a pot that was given to us on our wedding, (it's one of the few things my ex didn't sell or pawn), but IDK how to use it or what to put in it. Quote Share this post Link to post

I have a pot that was given to us on our wedding, (it's one of the few things my ex didn't sell or pawn), but IDK how to use it or what to put in it. I don't know. I've never had fondue, it could be fun, especially if you make it a 60's theme. As far as recipes go, when in doubt America's Test Kitchen, or Smitten Kitchen are my go to websites. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Bob250 74 Posted August 11, 2015 sunbuckus said: This has been my fondue go-to recipe: Cheese Fondue Recipe : Tyler Florence : Food Network This recipe sounds really good, so I printed it out and GF and I are going to use it this weekend. we are having a pool party and I'm always looking for new dishes to try. Thanks!! Do you think this would go well with tequila Sunrise? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
sunbuckus 3,569 Posted August 11, 2015 I don't know what tequila Sunrise tastes like. I know that the recipe itself calls for white wine so I don't know how wine pairs with tequila. I'm sure it'll be fine though. And don't forget dippers like pieces of bread, sliced Granny Smith apples, carrots, and such. Quote Share this post Link to post
Bob250 74 Posted August 11, 2015 My GF plans to have steamed veggies, some cold fruit and assorted bread bites. Plus some other canapes, on the side. Quote Share this post Link to post
Bob250 74 Posted August 11, 2015 Tequila Sunrise has Tequila, orange juice, and Grenadine, and garnish. I don't really follow a recipe, but make it to taste. Like Sangria, you can make it by the pitcher. Quote Share this post Link to post
