SwingAcademic 22 Posted August 3, 2015 I'm here at Swingersboard for the forums. Namely the informative ones, I'm not so interested in people's stories of what sorts of things they actually do (Like what's in the "Stories" forum.) I like this site because a) the forums actually have plenty of threads and posts concerning all aspects of swinging, and b) you don't have to register and create a profile to read the forums first. Even though it will take a long time for me to go through just what is on this site, I do wonder about the forums at other major sites, such as SLS and Kasidie. Do you think I would find any more or better info in the forums on any other sites? Quote Share this post Link to post
sunbuckus 3,569 Posted August 3, 2015 I'm very partial to the forums here, obviously, and in my humble opinion, no other forums elsewhere can compete to the content, the community, and the organization that is offered here. But, you know what they say, different strokes for different folks. Some people like it here best while others prefer others. It's probably in your best interest to visit other sites and look for yourself so you can choose what you like. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
JAPrufrock 588 Posted August 3, 2015 I like the format here, as well as all of the people. swingersboard.com has ridiculously intelligent, witty, and insightful people. I find the other boards, while not bad, lack the kind of insight I've seen here. Just my two cents. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
SwingAcademic 22 Posted August 3, 2015 I just realized I can actually read the forums at SLS. When clicking on the "Swingers' Forums" link, the list for each forum says "Hidden from non-members." It turns out that only the user info of the people who posted is hidden, not the actual content of the posts. Quote Share this post Link to post
SW_PA_Couple 4,026 Posted August 3, 2015 The forums here are organized in a way that make them easy to navigate and use. The same can be said of nearly any vBulletin Web site. vBulletin is continually being updated and stays current. Although the forums at SZC have worthwhile information that is contributed by people who have sincere intent (very few messages that read like 'Dear Penthouse'), they are a little more difficult to navigate and there is no single forum that all members are able to use. Individual 'groups' create and use their own forums. Some of the groups are private groups which I believe is the reason that Dear-Penthouse and my-dick-is-fourteen-inches messages are very rare. I find the forums at SLS interesting in that I can typically associate a post with a profile that has pictures and descriptions. So I'm there not as much for educating myself as to gain understanding of people' personalities and personality types. There are many forums having topics that do not exist at Swingersboard. In addition, many forums have local interest such as forums set up for local swingers' clubs. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
GoldCoCouple 4,068 Posted August 3, 2015 We haven't been able to find any other forum sites that are even in the same league as here. The 'forums' on SLS are so difficult to wade thru that it is almost impossible to find any worthwhile help (and we're lifetime members there). 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
TwoFunTexans 103 Posted August 3, 2015 Being pretty new and research obsessed, I've found this board to be the best informative wise and people wise. The regulars keep it inviting and enough people are here to keep new and old threads moving. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Mochacino 188 Posted August 3, 2015 Ditto to what Sun and Goldco said. The other forums are NOT even in the same universe let alone league as this one! But I'm totally biased as well! 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Heing&Sheing 75 Posted August 4, 2015 I love the forums here on Swingersboard! I tried the ones at SLS but quit them as there was some bashing & negativity on some of the threads there. I have never seen that here. I feel comfortable posting & commenting here & have learned so much that helped hubby & I avoid mistakes as we were jumping into this lifestyle. -She 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Teton69 32 Posted August 5, 2015 Honestly when we have questions these forums is where we come for answers. We have looked at other boards and have found them lacking with friendly people who are willing to deal with questions from newbies like us. Every body has a LS journey that starts somewhere and this place has been great! 5 Quote Share this post Link to post
intuition897 2,179 Posted August 5, 2015 I've been on SB since 2004, coming up on 3000 posts now, if that says anything. I've been on a few other boards, but there's nothing with the organization, breadth and depth of scope, the maturity or the friendliness of Swingersboard. It probably has something to do with the fact that it's not associated with profiles that are geared toward hooking up. This site is dedicated to discussion about swinging as a valid lifestyle, and it's not been allowed to be clouded by libido-driven agendas. I like this, and so do a lot of other good people here. I think its presence as a place for actual discussion and debate draws a really good crowd. There is a marked absence of pettiness, sniping, flaming, back & forth bashing, etc. If you're talking shit, you can expect to get called on it; I like that. It keeps it real. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
GoldCoCouple 4,068 Posted August 5, 2015 People are here because they WANT to be here, not that they are looking for anything (or anyone) else. They are here because they want to help...(at least we are). 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
two4youinswva 3,068 Posted August 5, 2015 I have the attention span of a gnat when it comes to my online life. I tend to find a new favorite site, then move on after a couple of years at most. But, here I am in my 11th year on the board, and there's quite a few active members that have been around longer than I have. Something keeps us hanging around, and I think it's a combination of all those things previously mentioned. Great advice, honesty about the ups and downs of swinging, and a friendly community that's quick to jump in and help out has been a constant since the beginning. Those are things that I think separate this site from similar venues. For me, it's fun watching new folks take the lead in sharing thoughts and advice. I guess you could say we've seen "Pay it forward" happen many, many times around here over the years. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
