What can I wear to go along with my wife's dress'?

Recommended Posts

My wife and I have been to Vegas twice before and absolutely love it!!! I am 26 and she is 24. Both times we have stayed there we just have a blast seeing a show or two and playing on the slot machines. This time we are looking to go to a few clubs possibly. I've bought her quite a few sexy dresses and heels over the years which she doesn't ever really wear, more of a jeans and converse type girl. We are going to be packing them for this trip in July though. What could I wear when I go out with her? I have one suit but I feel that it would be too much.

I like the look of a dress shirt and tie with jeans. You can color coordinate your tie with her dress. I don't know much about Vegas clubs, though.

If you know which club you're gonna hit, I recommend calling and asking them. It may not be a 'jeans' type of place.

Ultimately, if she's getting dressed up, you ought to as well. I'd say slacks and a nice button down. If you wife is anything like mine, she may be picking you outfit for you!

Designer Jeans, dress shoes, high end dress shirt.

Frankly slacks are a bit out of fashion, but can be pulled of with the right body type.

I use Macy's and Nordstroms, their casual wear sections. Rock Revival is a brand I found here in Vegas. Never saw it in department stores.

Just like girls you want to affect a 'look' be it more upscale and classy, like slacks, dress shirt and tie, or designer rock-n-roll. It's about how you put it all together.

Stay away from anything that says 'business casual', no fucking Dockers, real slacks.

Also just like the girls use accessories, a necklace, wristwatch, whatever you think you can get away with.

One thing is for sure you can not go too over the top, she will always outshine you.

It doesn't really matter what you wear (as long as you have washed and ironed what you are wearing). Most everyone will be (or at least should be) looking at your wife.

I would disagree...couples that both don't dress to impress are a turn-off...also big Vegas clubs...10oak, pure, voodoo lounge, Tao, etc. will not let you in...the ones that will let you in no matter how you are dressed, you don't want to got to.

It's a real see and be seen crowd.

I also disagree. If the husband thinks he can slide along on his wife's "dress" tails, I am not interested. Women who want to fuck another man want to see a man who takes care in how he appears. I'm not getting dressed up just to have a man who couldn't put in the effort to put on a nice outfit drool on me.

This is so true! Far too many guys out there looking for a free ride off of what their wife brings to the table. Just like the many online profiles with just pictures of the wife. Maybe one picture of the husband's penis, but nothing else. No one here takes one for the team.

If she has on a dress the guy should wear a suit, and a nice pressed button down.  No need to wear a tie.  But put the effort in.  The ladies will appreciate it.  If I enter a room, I make a beeline for the best dressed guy cause appearances matter.

We'll be attending our first swinger event in the near future. Now the first time we go, we'll have no expectations, other than the hope someone opens up and talks to us and/or accepts us talking to them just to socialize (maybe more).

Now on a daily basis, I wear Joe Boxer thongs. I've been wearing them for 10-15 years. I LOVE them! No wedgies/bunching, holds me firmly in place so my head doesn't get irritated, etc.

Anyway, I've read that men wearing thongs at swinger events can be a little odd if a 6-pack and cherry tomato ass cheeks don't accompany the thong.

But what is reality when it comes to clothes in the first place. Do people walk around fully clothed or naked...or is there some use in wearing undies? What is generally the most attractive...boxers, boxer briefs, etc.?

      Thanks!

Inspired by something that happened last night - I am wondering just what it is that swing men do - or are supposed to - wear.

We have a friend who owns a clothes store that caters mostly to gay men (they do have a small section of club-friendly women's wear). They are working on trying to get involved in marketing to swingers, since there is such an active community here - and since we are friends, he has asked Mrs Spoo and I to help out when he has a "show" at a local swing club of some of the clothing that they recently found at a convention in Vegas.

He told me to wear the "kinkiest, sexiest thing" I own...

Well - I have to tell you, I was sort of dumb-founded... I mean - the gap between my "sexy" wardrobe and the gleam in this guy's eye was pretty far apart. I knew we weren't talking about the same thing...

Granted - I do wear a kilt - and, as inspired by THE Mr. TNT, I do have a really nice black pirate shirt... But having seen the clothes this store typically sells as "kinky and sexy" I am not even close...

I told him I really didn't have anything "kinky" and he just laughed and said, "sure you don't." As if ALL swinging men have a vast collection of "kinky wear" as a part of getting your license...

My other friend who works there - knowing me much better and much more personally - stepped in and saved the day, suggesting some clothes they have at one of their other stores that would fit the bill. I was game and things worked out...

But I was left feeling somewhat remedial...

I mean - sexy to me is my tight, but comfortable, Buffalo Jeans, whichever shirt is working at the moment and some chunky boots... Fairly understated, really. Casual, relaxed...

I have been to clubs where I have seen men in some really silly outfits - sometimes the male version of "sexy" comes off as kind of silly and a little embarrassing to the whole of the gender - especially when you combine it with enough Grey Goose...

So - my question is - what do men wear that is "sexy"?

What should be a part of the swing-males closet?

A few thoughts from Mr. Swingularity (and Mrs. Swingularity has always stood and watched in awe at Mr. Swingularity's ablity to shop fearlessly for himself and her).

Before reading the suggestions below, please know YMMV and these are IMHO and you should BE YOURSELF, not try to be someone else.

      1) Shoes. These are your foundation. No sneakers. No work shoes. Nothing you walk the dog or mow the grass in. They should be leather. On trend slip-ons, chukka's, ankle boots, and the like are a start.

      2) Socks. They need to have been purchased sometime in the last 2 years. Don't be afraid of colors. Black shoes, black/grey/navy base socks. Brown shoes brown, tan, earth tone socks.

      3) Belt. Should RELATE to the shoe color. Leather. I like wider belts on even dressish pants, as well as jeans, as they don't pinch or allow pant to bunch above or below.

      4) Underwear. Bought within last year. Don't be afraid to go with bold colors and patterns. But black is a sure bet. I like the cotton blend with some stretch fabric boxer briefs that are low on fabric volume. A "boy short" cut. Looks flattering when I'm relaxed, and really nice as arousal finds me.

      5) Pants. Lots of options here. One non option: PLEATS. Never, never, never on pleats. They add unflattering volume, and contrary to what "less fit/slender" guys think, they DO NOT make you look slimmer. They make you look NOT slimmer. FLAT FRONT PANTS ONLY. Dress jeans can be really great. Casual chic dress slacks that aren't business focused are everywhere today, and look great. Dress flat front Khaki's in non-tan colors are all around and look great. A slack with some pattern that is subtle can be great. I love blacks and shades of grey, but have red, mauve, dark brown, loden, etc. Thin dress cords in Fall look super. And did I say NO CUFFS? No? I am now. NO CUFFS. Buy the pants for your fit now, not what you hope to fit after losing that 10 or 20 that you're about to lose.

      6) Shirts: lots of options here. Don't like polos, personally. Sorry guys, but dress polos are for the country club golf outing. "Club" and casual dress shirts are all around. I prefer non button down collars and collar stays. I think they look, in general, more aesthetically "flowy". Another look that is nice is a stretch t-shirt, black, under a long sleeve knit. Adds nice layering, and can hide a few extra lbs. The t-shirt is like a Spanxs effect.

      7) If it's jacket weather a nice unstructured blazer, and there are tons of them, is a nice touch to start the night in. Says something about the man that is akin to "I care about my appearance", so I must be a "care about my partner and my lovemaking" kind of guy. The fit is key here, gents. So many guys have a jacket that's a size or more too big, trying to "hide something". It backfires. Get the perfect fit and drape, and you'll look sleeker. I have one blazer I love: it's a leather blazer in black that just smokes the night. Like a dress jacket meets bad boy club hopper.

? Have a nice watch? They speak volumes.

Finishing touches: Your feet are self pedicured. Your fingernails are clean, clipped close, and looking good. You are always shower fresh and not heavily fragranced. And your oral hygiene (that means floss and tongue scraper) is impeccable.

You'll look good, feel confident, and be the best you can be...and get noticed.

What happens when you open your mouth...that's up to you!

Well, this is all fairly brief, YMMV, IMHO, and feel free to think "Dude...wtf?!?!" These basic principles have been in place for me since about my mid-to-late 30's, and refined over the years. If the feedback my wife gets about my attire is anything to go on, the ladies notice.

I'd be happy to hear any tips or thoughts on the whole "male attire" issue from others. I'm always looking for ideas!

Well, it's off to give my wife a minty fresh kiss...

      Greetings All--

My wife and I will be attending in the next month or so our first hotel party (which seems to be different than a simple "meet and greet" which we have tried). Perhaps a silly question-- what should I as a guy wear? Forgive me if this has been answered before but I could not find a prior thread discussing the topic (many threads on women wear). I ask because I obviously don't want to stick out like a sore thumb and I admittedly have zero fashion sense, especially with any new "trends." I would appreciate any help on this, again I know, silly question.

We were just at an on-premises club this weekend where a man was walking around in and playing in a thong. We heard a few people commenting on how that may have been unseemly for club wear or etiquette. Should guys be au natural under their pants or is a man wearing sexy at risk of ridicule, etc.
