Jare1998 62 Posted January 19, 2017 Hey there, I've been experiencing some vaginal irritation after every sexual encounter I've been having. It began several months ago after we first started swinging. I felt like I had a bad yeast infection but it wouldn't go away with over the counter meds. I finally went to my doctor and he confirmed a bacterial infection but also said I had an over abundance of yeast. I took the meds, infection went away. Then we played again, alone this time and used silicone based lube. The infection returned so I did the meds again. We played with our friends again a couple months ago and the same thing happened but we only had oral sex. I again take the meds, infection is gone. Just this past weekend we had a full swap with the same friends again, I'm already feeling a bit of irritation. No one has an std so I'm fairly certain it's not the issue. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this. Could it be something reacting with my body creating a pH imbalance? I'm frustrated and wanting to play more but dealing with this every time is to much. I get the same problem when my hubby and I go it alone and use lube. This Past Weekend We Played With Unlubricated Condoms. I am showering well after play. Any suggestions would help, I'd like to avoid this every time we play Quote Share this post Link to post
njbm 2,904 Posted January 20, 2017 This sounds like a medical question. I do know that bacterial infections tend to recur. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Fundamental Law 2,903 Posted January 21, 2017 This is speculative, of course, but the recurrent infection after playing suggests recurring reinfection. The assertion that you had a "bacterial infection but an overabundance of yeast" defies logic. It sounds like you had a reinfection. Speak to your doc about getting a prescription for diflucan (fluconazole). The tablets are about $5 apiece. Try taking one an hour or so before you play the next time. See if it preempts the symptoms and consequent infection. Simply as an aside, the oral-genital sex is an infection route for all sorts of things, and your play partners' mouths contain different flora than your spouse's. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
Jare1998 62 Posted January 23, 2017 Thank you all for the info, I didn't think about the oral-vaginal route as a possible cause. I may just be sensitive to others normal flors. I do have an rx for diflucan, I take it once a week but I'll try taking just before next time Quote Share this post Link to post
Fundamental Law 2,903 Posted January 23, 2017 Bear in mind that normal oral flora includes a host of facultative anaerobes. It could just as easily be one of them as it could be C. albicans. Quote Share this post Link to post
Jare1998 62 Posted May 18, 2017 Update: I've still been experiencing these same issues. They just come and go so I went to our new doctor and he confirmed tricomoniasis. So I'm getting treated as well as my hubby. The one thing I've learned... most people do not know when they've been infected so they are unaware that they gave it. It's super contagious but treatable so good news there. Just because someone tells you they don't have an STD doesnt mean they know for sure. Be safe, use condoms. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
SW_PA_Couple 4,026 Posted May 19, 2017 It's good to know that you learned what was going on. Now you will know how to deal with it. Tricomoniasis producers a characteristic aroma. Did you not notice this? Quote Share this post Link to post
Jare1998 62 Posted May 19, 2017 I did this last time, that's what clued me in that this wasn't normal Quote Share this post Link to post
Newbievegasgirl 15 Posted January 1, 2018 Based on my personal history I can advise what I know. I had been married for 15 years and I started noticing I constantly ahead yeast infections. This went on for several years. I finally decided to treat my husband with the cream for 7 days while I was on oral meds. It has been 10 years since that and I have never had another yeast infection. I truly believe he kept passing of to me every time I had it cured as he did not know he could a lap get a yeast infection. Quote Share this post Link to post
JoshApril 17 Posted January 2, 2018 I contracted a yeast infection several years ago that was caused from taking a particularly strong antibiotic for an extremely nasty sinus infection. I had never had a yeast infection before and tried OTC meds which did not work. I went to my Dr. who confirmed that I had...to quote her..."a raging yeast infection. (Great huh haha) She prescribed the diflucan, three over the course of a week. It cleared for a few days after my last dose then came back. I returned to Doc, more diflucan. Cleared for a month, then returned. Back to doc for diflucan, cleared up yeast too well, bacteria infection. Had to take antibacterial WITH the diflucan--the yeast came back. I took diflucan every month for six months after that. This ebb and flow of the pH balance in my vagina went on for about a year before everything got under control. I couldn't have intercourse because it would wreak havoc on my already crazy pH balance. Keep in contact with your doc, watch for signs. Before and after a period can change the pH balance as well. Do research at reputable sites and make sure everyone has super clean bits before having fun with your bits. If possible, maybe use toys rather than skin on skin while your body gets back to normal. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
