Hello! Sophia here :-) My husband and I are planning to visit Trapeze in Atlanta this weekend, which so exciting and nerve-wracking for me! It will be our introduction into the swinger lifestyle. Here's my question: the club has a policy that everyone must disrobe in a locker room and enter the back play area wearing only a towel, is this pretty standard practice? I feel uncomfortable being essentially naked before any real contact, even if only with my husband but in a shared space. Plus, the very act of undressing/being undressed during the heat of the moment adds so much excitement to my experience. Am I just being silly? How have you all gotten accustomed to this different order of things, as it were?

I have never been to, and would personally never go to, a club with this kind of policy. It is certainly not standard at any club I have visited.

FLL and Atlanta both have the towel rule and we have been at other clubs with similar practices. Give it a chance. Trap was our first exposure to that type of play area but we quickly found that it made a lot of things easier. First, you won't ever have to hunt for your panties in a dark playroom. Your husband doesn't have to worry about his wallet or car keys, all are safely locked away in the locker and the towels facilitate play. Keep an open mind, it's kind of like a topless/nude beach. Initially, its a bit of a shock but you very rapidly forget that everyone is draped in a towel. Speaking of draping, you'd be surprised at how many different and alluring ways a towel can be worn by women AND men.

It's kind of like a lot of things in swinging in that when you look around you see that everyone else is doing the same thing and so no one is taking one bit of notice you are wearing a towel instead of your usual clothes. Walk back there with your street clothes on, and then heads would turn and you would feel like a thousand eyes were upon you

 

Trap is different than a lot of other clubs in that they have hot tubs and a pool in the back area, so I wouldn't make too much of them having that rule. If they didn't have all of that, then it would seem a little more odd, but since those things are the focal point of the back area, it all kind of works out in a good way.

 

Good luck and have fun! I know it's nerve wracking the first time, but it will be fine. My advice is to go early and let the crowd and energy build around you, instead of going late and walking into that environment "cold" which could make it feel more overwhelming. Going early has the advantage of getting a good table too.

 

Just to close with a story that might help ease your mind, two of my favorite swinging experiences happened there. One was we met a German couple there and working around the language barrier had a really interesting conversation about the differences in swinging in the two countries. They had only been here a few months but were going to be in the States for three years, so they were just as interested in the advice we were offering as we were in what swinging was like in their country.

 

The other was just one of those making connection experiences you only get in swinging. We were having sex with each other in the back on one of the big couches. A little bit into that, another couple came along and took advantage of the extra space on the couch and started doing the same thing. Right in the heat of things, the other woman reached over and took Mrs. cplnuswing's hand and held it and they stayed that way while things came to a climax and we all finished. They got up and without exchanging anything beyond a silent knowing smile, we all went our own ways.

Thank you for your advice! It makes sense that with everyone else in towels-at least to start- it's more normal. Also, I had no idea there was a hot tub and pool. Well-chlorinated? Haha! We will be there early to buy the membership and take the tour, and hopefully knock the edge off of my nerves with a bit of wine. We are planning to get a feel for the environment, meet some people, and likely only engage in play with each other, but I'm open to the possibility of light play with others, depending upon our comfort level.

It's been a while since we've been there, so you got me wondering about the hot tubs, etc. in the back. For some reason, they don't really mention them on their website. I looked at some fairly recent reviews and people are still mentioning them though, so evidently nothing has changed on that. Yelp - Trapeze Club Atlanta

 

It's worth reading those reviews, they are detailed and spot on to what we have experienced. Yes, it's true, the food is actually good there! Don't worry, the dining area is off to the side from everything else

 

My favorite quote from one of the reviews is "Trapeze is a feast for your eyes and your senses. The lights are just low enough that your imagination goes crazy yet your eyes are so overloaded you walk away wondering "did I really see that?!" Yes!!! Yes, you did!" That is a very accurate statement, the club does have a unique and special feel compared to some others we have been to...and yes, you did just see that

 

One other thing I'll mention too. Other clubs we have been to the bathrooms are about what you expect in a nightclub. Trapeze, they were what you would expect at a nice restaurant or hotel. Maybe they were just newly remodeled or something when we were there, but that was the thing that shocked us the most, the nicely furnished and well-maintained bathrooms.

 

P.S. - read some more reviews and it sounds like the hot tubs are still there but the pool is gone. It also sounds like they have some sort of VIP type room now that costs extra. Just a guess but I'm wondering if the pool went away to get space for the VIP area. When we were there the hot tubs got a whole lot more use than the pool did, so probably not a bad decision on their part.

 

Really, best thing to do to find out all the details is just call them probably.

We have been to Trapeze in FT Lauderdale. The back is very nice. We had a great time. I think they may allow women to wear lingerie in the back, so maybe that would work for you? Check with them and see.

 

Actually, we thought it was kind of funny, having been to nude resorts, that people at Trapeze when we were there really covered themselves with the towels. I was walking around with it tied around my waist so my breasts were out, and I was the only woman like that. No one seems to mind either way. It's a nice play space and very sexy.

I can see where this would kind of discourage first timers from visiting, but as we were told the first time we visited a nudest resort 'after 10 minutes, you will feel out of place wearing cloths'...and we did. The hardest part of going to a club is your imagination. It will be better than you imagine and none of the things you are afraid of having happen will. Don't overthink or over-analyze things. Deep breath and take that first step. Make sure that you both understand your rules and limits, proceed with no expectations (other then enjoying an evening out with your hubby), and have a good time watching things you never thought you would see in real life...and then report back to us next week.

 

Personally, I don't know if we would have been able to start with a 'towels only' club for our first experience. It kind of makes running out of the club a bit more awkward once we see that there are naked people there...

Hey Sophia, like you our first experience going to a club was at the Trapeze also so we had nothing to compare it to. Now we actually like they way they do it because 1. you move around from room to room in the back taking it all in so you don't have to carry anything around with you and 2. nothing gets lost or stolen. All clothes, keys, wallets, etc. are locked up and only the attendant has the key. Towels are large and fully cover you but I have also seen some women in bras/panties or lingerie and no one batted an eye. Do what makes you comfortable. Previous posters are correct there are only hot tubs (x3) now and no pool. If you have any specific questions you can PM me or we plan on going Saturday night also (fingers crossed) so we might see you there.

You've gotten some good advice. I don't really have too much to add, except to say that you will feel more comfortable once you get used to things.

 

The clubs that I go to do not have a towel rules like you describe. But I can say that, as the night wears on, people tend to be more casual about clothing (or lack thereof). By midnight, I'd say there is a good amount of nudity all around the club, near the playrooms and out by the dance floor. And of course, pretty much everyone is in their birthday suits in and around the hot tub!

 

Believe me, it doesn't feel as strange once everybody is less clothed. When I went to Desire Riviera Maya (clothing-optional, swinger-friendly resort near Cancun), I was nervous about being naked outside around the resort. It turned out that, within about five minutes, I was comfortable and relaxed. Seeing everyone else comfortable and relaxed, unaffected, and strutting their stuff, regardless of size, shape, age, etc. was a big relief and comfort. No one pointed and giggled, no one gasped- it was all normal and accepted! So will it be with you two at Trapeze.

Pretty much every woman in the back has her towel wrapped around her waist, so surprised to read this.

 

Trapeze in FLorida has not had a hot tub since they moved back in 2008. As for Atlanta, I believe they no longer have hot tubs either. Going into the locker room and putting on a towel is a lot like going to a nude beach for the first time. You can't imagine taking off your clothes in public, but when you arrive, you feel sillier with your clothing on!

Curious how it went for you guys. We just went to a club for the first time this past weekend ourselves and had a great time ending in a full swap. Was a lot of fun. We went the The Players Club here in San Antonio, which from what I have read on reviews is actually a kind of lame club, but it's all we have unless we drive up to Austin. They did have lockers and towels along with condoms and lube and all sorts of stuff available, but you were not required to disrobe and lock your stuff up to go back there. There were really two areas, a voyeur area and the semi-private rooms area. If you hang out in the semi-private area too long with clothes on they do ask you to leave though, so better off just disrobing and locking your stuff up. By the end of the night there were quite a few people even out in the main area with nothing but underwear on since their stuff was all locked up in the lockers. Not really sure if all this is more the norm or if what they to there at Trapeze is, but either way seems to work just fine.
