Flakiest event of the week

Recommended Posts

We had been corresponding, exchanging pictures, and had a planned "first date" 48 hours later (meanIng tonight). Then arrives the following message:

"OK, time for me to be shallow. I have enjoyed our mail, your wife bears such an uncanny resemblance to my wife's mother, that she has declined to meet. Best of luck."

Really? This just surfaced? Like, had you mentioned the month of correspondence and photos to your spouse as you said you had?

Sheesh.

What's your best flake story?

A woman of a couple fled from me at a house party. Her partner said I looked like her ex-husband.

I kinda respect that though. Any woman that reminds me of my ex is an instant no go and it's happened.

Our latest flake and we knew it was going to be one...

She failed her math exam and needs to spend all the time she can study for the next one two months away. Errr ok, good luck with that.

This matches my "greatest flake" story exactly. All I could think was, "was her ex really this handsome?"

We got the 'You look just like her brother. That's a deal-breaker.' e-mail.

Oh, yeah? Well, I should have said "Actually, I look like your mother!"

Only I didn't think of that classy retort until months later.

This is why we always say don't waste time about meeting for the first time. If it looks like a possible connection, then schedule a meeting for dinner or drinks (only). You will find out more in the first 5 minutes than you ever will via texting or email.

On the other hand, at least they said something and didn't just not show up. Better luck with your next meeting.

You make an excellent point. Thanks for the good wishes.

We'd been corresponding with an attractive single woman, who seemed very eager to meet. The day of the meeting (a Monday), she texts about 2 hours beforehand to say that the sermon her Pastor preached the day before told her that she needed to not be so self-centered and put the brakes on things in her life, so she was not going to make our meeting after all.

About a week ago, we got turned-down for an initial meet-up because our Politics were too different (a summary -- 'words to that effect'). Odd, we thought, as they seem interesting, otherwise -- but we thought that was kind of a flaky reason not to meet.

I might find it hard to maintain a lifestyle friendship that included significant social time along with sexual play with someone whose political and social views I found repugnant. But in a relationship that was confined to sexual activities, even an ongoing one, politics aren’t why we are in bed together.

Some years ago I initiated a friendship with a couple who were a decade older than I. Although they were quite experienced in the lifestyle, the three of us never quite made it into bed. It turned out they were really looking for a male for at least a semi-poly relationship. The three of us pretty much shared the same political outlook, but she was really vociferous about sex and politics. With real energy in her voice she once said to me “I would never fuck a (member of the other major political party)!” It seemed a little extreme to me.
