Has anyone been to a "Do you know George" event?

Recommended Posts

We signed up for a Dinner with George event.

They apparently have high end dinners followed by a hotel suite get together. We are wondering what the story is. We signed up for it on SLS about a month ago. We wrote to them a week ago for details. It occurs in a week. Getting the feeling that they are blowing us off.

We would like to attend. But it is growing increasingly clear that we are being blown off. We had the courage to post our true age of 59 on SLS and SDC. While there are others in our age group signed up, we suspect that they don't want old people.

Meanwhile, they do not know that my wife has a personal trainer and a better body than most 40 year olds. We both have graduate degrees, we have positive personal attributes and are well received at lifestyle events. Their loss!

With 6 days to go and no word from the sponsors, we've lost interest. Rude sponsors!

There is a podcast called We Gotta Thing. They have been to some of the DoyouknowGeorge events and really enjoyed them. They sound very nice and upscale. The couple on the podcast are in their 50's.

After I heard about their Just for Dinner events I started my own version and it went really well.

T minus 5 days to the event and no word from the sponsors. We would have liked to go, but we apparently have been vetted out. Would've been nice if they told us.

Agree, sounds snobby. We don't like being ruled out by people who have never seen us or met us. Just want to spread the word that if you plan on attending this event, don't plan on being invited.

The event is tomorrow night and we never heard from the sponsors. We contacted and were contacted by other prospective attendees who were treated equally poorly. I use the power of the internets to tell people not to bother to sign up for the Dinner by George events unless you enjoy being left hanging.

Sounds like even if you were to go it's not going to be a very good event if everyone is left hanging. You are better off not attending...maybe a club instead. Or get those that you have heard from and arrange for you all to have dinner somewhere else...

That sounds like a great idea!! Create your own dinner event post on SLS (Call it "We don't want to know George dinner" LOL) request confirmation so you can give out the reservations to the restaurant.

We would probably create our own in the near future but would probably do a BBQ at the beach instead.

We contacted others on the SLS and SDC guest list and they did not hear from these jerks either. Who knows if it is a legitimate event! I advise other Swingers' Board posters not to bother with the Dinner with George activities. They are rude and unresponsive.

I have never heard of this...and have to admit I don't get it at all! LOL There seems to be an element in the lifestyle that is very concerned with posing as "upscale" for whatever reason

The sponsor wrote back to me and at first claimed that she sent me an email about the event. I told her we got that, it was a robot email to her website, where I again signed up for her event. Then she sent me a vague email that said that they had undiscloseable criteria with which they select their guests. I get it. We're 59. Blonde, implants, 32, stripper pole, etc. must be their candidate.

Not sure about their business model. We would not go to one of their events if they paid us. We are happy to tell anyone that they do not have the courtesy to tell people who signed up and have their banner on their site that they are not invited. Usually we are confident that there are people that we can at least converse with, but maybe they did us a favor.

I responded to a posting about dinner with George, filled out the requested information including screen names and sites, attached a photo with face as requested. Then I received follow up emails saying I still needed to send photos. I replied I already had and please double check as they advertise discretion and security. They responded I wasn't a good fit. My reply called them out on not being as secure as advertised. I was told they are not responsible. I have unsubscribed and am following through to share with my friends that for $250 discretion and security are not really there.

They are so selective that no one qualifies to go to their events. Great business model. We had acquaintances who attended the event to which we were not invited. They said it was overpriced, the food was mediocre, the hosts did not facilitate socialization and people were not connecting. A dud.

We would not go to one of their events if they paid us. I am sure that many lifestylers feel the same. Their rejection process is demeaning. I wish them a fast track to insolvency.
