Secret Groups

So I have seen reference on here to secret facebook groups. We have recently joined a 'Secret Groupme Group' It's been kinda interesting.

 

The thing is there is just a lot of 'infinite' chatter. I am kinda feeling like it's a time suck.

 

We went to one event, after waiting forever for that one super special couple that can't be there at a decent hour. We all just kinda soft played. I couldn't really get anything more going. And I tried. We obviously were the first couple to leave after that, but whatever it was 0130, we have a sitter and an hour drive home. Maybe more happened after we left, no idea.

 

I did get an apology from the lady that runs the group, and I kept it positive. Maybe I should have expressed our disappointment more, whatever.

 

Right now they canceled the next event that we got a baby sitter for, which is also super annoying. We are going out to our local swing club, as the back up plan not that big a deal.

 

It just seems like this is all talk and no action. We are not really into that.

 

I was wondering what others experiences are?

My wife and I are both members of a secret Facebook group that is uberactive. Parties are posted months in-advance by the group owner. Other members post occasional dates at various locations. The parties average 50 people but have been as many as 100 for one occasion this past summer. The group owner has an adequate-size home and outdoor pool so that number is practical. We alway have a good time and meet new people.

The only secret FB group I'm in is one for a major club (which is also on SLS and elsewhere) but they do post their events on FB first and those members get first access to rooms (hotel takeover and it always sells out).

 

My guess is that it's like everything else, there's a spectrum.. some good, some less than, and it probably takes some digging to find the right one for you.

Yeah well the one we joined was a bust:sad:. Yeah I had a few warning signs and we quit it.

For us the secret was to find the first "secret group" and then from there we were able to network out to many others. How do you find that first group? Generally through networking. Talk to people at your local swingers club or other locals in the LS. Sooner or later you will locate someone that is member of one of the groups and they will add you, and from that point it is just a matter of being friendly and building your network.

Yes, like Dan63 says, somebody already a member of the group nominates you after which a group owner or group moderator approves you.
