njbm 2,880 Posted April 15, 2019 Just returned. Had a nice time. In a five day cruise plus two days pre-cruise in Florida, only had one lifestyle encounter. However, we were very enthusiastic about the couple we met and we already have tentative plans to meet again. In retrospect, the contrived attempts to meet people (pre-gaming on SLS, going to meet and greets, bars and speed dating) failed. Meeting people at meals, in the hot tub, and on excursions worked. We got quite a few rejections. From couples we knew and played with before, people we knew from previous trips but had not played with. My wife says I am wasting my time trying to figure out why people don’t play with us. We usually have a high hit rate. I still like to initiate meetings and I never mind being the one to ask the other couple if they want to play. Sometimes we let my wife ask, seems less intimidating. Our big takeaway is to meet people organically at meals, trips and activities. We are not bar flys or players. I am not an alpha male. I’m a little more subtle than that. Overall, it was a nice vacation and we met a lot of nice people even if we didn’t do them. Quote Share this post Link to post
2NoLimit 95 Posted April 29, 2019 This cruise was really not what we expected and nothing like the highly energetic cruise from 2 years ago. The crowd was a bit more on the older side. Our biggest complaint is from the disengaged Celebrity Cruise staff, not as friendly as what you would expect on any cruise (Management issues it seems) we are not judging that on one encounter, but multiple. The M&G’s were just normal, 45 and under M&G was less then 10 couples. On other M&G’s We noticed most were in clic’s and knew each other from outside groups. We did meet some nice couples during our dinner and made some nice connections, not sure if lucky, or the staff was doing a good job on pairing couples. Also to our neighbor...take a Disney Cruise next time. Yea we can be a bit loud and go on for awhile, but it’s annoying when you get interrupted every few minutes with door bell ringing and knocking on the wall, we tried to be a little considerate...but we finally said fuck it, if you can’t be as loud as you want to be in a LS Cruise, then where? We know they had drama issues as you could hear them screaming at each other during the cruise (hence why we were a bit considerate). But that’s not our problem. These cruises are not cheap and we are going to make the best of them. Looking forward to the Oasis Quote Share this post Link to post
