Had our first experience with a flake... I've heard a million times it'll happen just sucks especially when my wife was really worked up... he's now asking for another chance but to me there are PLENTY of guys that can be found to take his place and I don't see the point in trying again.

What is your guys general reaction to this?

We were able to meet another guy my wife had been talking to and it ended up being an even better night than we could have imagined !

By " flake are you referring to being stood up ? Or some wierd scenario

Backing out as we were driving to meet them... not to toot my wife's horn too much but her inbox is beyond overwhelming on SLS. I don't want to waste time with last minute bail outs

Since it sounds like you are looking for a single guy for her, then there are too many fish to worry about one that flaked. Bah-bye. What was the reason he gave anyway? His wife found out and wouldn't let him go?

Hahahahaha he's a police officer and said he was suddenly called in to testify for a DWI... one problem, I'm a police officer too. And I'm certified in alcotest, field sobriety testing and advanced roadside impaired driving enforcement... I KNOW that if a DWI goes to trial, you are subpoenaed weeks if not months in advance.

So wife of GF is the likely scenario ... as you said GONE!

We had our share of no-shows or last minute cancellations when we first started doing MFMs. Then we found out if you have them call you, if they're gonna ghost you they'll never call. After we had the guy talk to the wife before setting up a date, they almost always showed.

Great idea!

Ditto what Stag said. 30 years on the street and in detectives and I NEVER got a "sudden" call into court. His wife changed her plans so he couldn't get out.

You were on the job? Very cool! I only have 5 years on, but I know it doesn't happen!

I think we were only stood up once, but some people are awfully hard to make plans with. Some have a lot of family or business obligations.

Agreed, but his reason was a lie

We are ok with cancellations for a valid reason at a timely juncture, but lying cancellations are a no-no.

If we say we will be somewhere, we show up. But we can tell other lifestylers are skittish due to the expectation of flaking.

Is it possiable that it was a work related pause , maybe this isn't a good idea even more so as a single male with a fellow cops wife on his part ? Granted he flaked and could have been more honest in my suggested scenario and just said straight up maybe this is notta good idea to play where I work. Just food for thought, for the peeps that just read the threads and not the handfull that actually post, nothing more, nothing less.

On a side note your user name makes much more sense to me now. Blue stagg , I was thinking something smurff related at first ......J/K

I'm fixated on how and why people choose their usernames and find it very interesting.

Hahah Smurf's! That made me laugh. Maybe he was stuck work related, but he wasn't called in to testify last minute. It doesn't work that way
