Thanks for the insight.  I guess that strip clubs are all small operations, so a big consulting firm has never done an analysis of the business.   You now have me thinking about competitive advantages, threats from other forms of sexual entertainment, scalability, labor issues, regulatory demands...

At your small local strip clubs they are mostly all independent contractors who pay for stage time and earn money on lap dances.  But even still those clubs want those dancers coming back regularly.  Good dancers means more people, more drinks, more money.  Allowing amateurs in to dance on stage for free and give free (or cheaper) lap dances cuts into the business of the strippers.  For most clubs this isn't an issue as amateur night is usually a random night during the week.  But it has been brought up to my GF before.
