What is up with SLS?

Recommended Posts

So many changes, most seem to be negative.

1) email function gone. Loved seeing that little bird. Even better loved to see motive in-my email stating I had a message waiting. email history and contacts gone.

2) chat?! I don’t chat or IM. I email and save or make notes as I archive.

3) the Wall?! What is this? No announcement or instructions. I have a dozen random people who are not in my friends list posted to my wall. How did this happen and where else is my info being posted?! Why can’t I opt out?

4) started to see several views of our profile from people In the mid-Atlantic area of the east coast. We opted out of having our profile as “featured.” Are they featuring it outside of our region? We have family in that part of the country.
5) anytime you post something critical on their forum it gets deleted!

come on folks. Yes, the site was old, ‘tis, and needed updating but please check with your members first. If I want a vanilla or mainstream social media site, I’ll join one.

if I want a swinger site that allows me to control my content and online footprint, I’ll join.

we are still closeted and have drastically change what content and how much content we share in SLS mainly because it isn’t clear that they are maintaining privacy we feel is needed on a lifestyle site.

anyone else concerned by recent changes?

I agree with you. But they do have a critical number of users, so . . .

I don’t like their changes. You would think they would vet the membership first. Unfortunately, the hobby is down there with airlines, cruise ships and crowded bars for a dangerous activity. We are on the shelf at least till a vaccine.

While it may be a hobby to {you|us|others}, the lifestyle is a business to thousands of others and benefit to many more. Website operators, club owners, cruise operators, adult toy merchants, 'party wear' manufacturers, and then all of the secondary beneficiaries of that business--hotels, bus operators, the list is endless--there are countless people whose income depends on fueling--and realizing--participation in the lifestyle. Nearly all the primary businesses serving the LS are trying to make a case for--and make money on--virtual get-togethers.

Uphill battle. I do feel for our friends whose livelihoods depend on the lifestyle. Who saw this coming even four months ago?

NOT a fan of the new SLS. Was on it before, took a break and just signed up again. It was kinda what the hell did I just fork over a bunch of money for!!!!! Hopefully they opt to bring back the email! THIS is why we NEED an app "Swinger buddy" Just like gas buddy but for the sites. Completely patron info input controlled. Numbers of swingers on said site in your area (men, women, couples, straight, bi etc.) how well the site functions, how problems are fixed, how communication works (ratings) . Price of admission. etc. etc.

I'm not going to disagree with you, Forever. Yeah, there's a lot of things I don't care for on SLS.

But they've got the most number of users, so if you actually want to get into contact with someone you'd like to meet, SLS is pretty much it, along with SDC and Kasadie.

We have absolutely zero issue with people trying to make a buck from sex or the lifestyle.  Also no problem with updating or improving an outdated website.

The issue we have is with changes that do NOT improve the site, rolling out feature That do not function and question if our privacy and security remain as solid as when we signed up. We are never going to download and use an app on our phones for a sex or lifestyle site. Kids use our phones, we share pics with family and coworkers and will not risk someone swiping and finding out our dark secret. However SLS appears to be pushing members from the website to the mobile app and designing features only for the app. If we want to participate in a traditional vanilla social media site ( F—- B—-, I—— G—-, T——-, K—, etc.) I know that what it’s about and know that potentially anything posted can be seen by anyone.

That’s not what I signed up for on SLS. Now we are seeing a spike in numbers of people viewing our profile from the mid-Atlantic states. Why? Are they “featuring” our profile outside our region? Don’t know but we opted out of that feature and we have family in that part of the world that we would rather not find us our.

Additionally, we are having random people posting to “My Wall” without being a friend or our permission. When ask SLS support to allow an opt out, they said we moved the wall off the main page just ignore those posters because we have no plans to allow an opt out.

Come on guys, give me back control of the security features on our profile.this is at the core of the lifestyle is to not kiss and tell and maintain confidentiality.

Not to mention that any criticism

of new practices posted on their forums is immediately pulls down, censoring anyone who dares complain.

Yeah, we cut all pics and reduced profile content......They locked our account stating it violated policy. Asked for a copy of T&C, nothing. Profile still suspended.

way to censor lifetime members SLS!!!

Right now yes, but for how long. We haven't recommended SLS for two years.

Maybe 6 mos ago we were asked and warned someone away from it.

SLS was a great site its numbers grew because people recognized this and the word spread.

The reverse is happening now.

That they are busy turning the whole thing into a third rate knockoff of other social media sites while ignoring a loyal base. This does not bode well for the future oh SLS.

Not disagreeing, lcmim, but you ask how long the big three will be at the top. Unless you see something I don't, there's no other contenders being developed.

Nature and commerce both abhor a vacuum.

I am thinking that smaller local groups already existing will mature in this quarantine time and fill part of it. Many already have either a FB  footprint or their own servers. After all most are more interested in the 100 mile radius than across the country.

The remaining market will be satisfied by smaller but still commercial groups that serve areas other than those where SLS is the only game right now. There are some that do not have much of a presence here in Wisconsin but do well in Michigan and Illinois. There is one which is mostly down south that has free memberships in areas that they consider underserved with the reminder that charging will commence when they have enough members in our area.

The only constant is that things change.

We haven't been on anything but the mobile part of the site since the pandemic started and there was one thing that I was very interested in seeing...the star rating system. It would have been nice if we looked at a profile and were interested so we could just click an 'interested' button so they could see if they were interested in us as well (instead of having to always send mail...or IM or video (which we DON'T DO EVER). Not a fan of removing mail. The stars looked like that was what they would do...but they don't. Apparently, if you are NOT interested in a profile, it will block that profile in the future, but didn't we already have that feature? We can see who has looked at our profile, but how many profiles have you looked at and said 'probably not' for one reason or another. Looking at a profile is much different than being interested in a profile. Why can't this just be easy? Now I'm going to have to log on and see what the other changes look like.

As already pointed out, you fish where the fish are and SLS has (for us) the most fish, even if the lake smells.

Good points. Like I said earlier, we don’t (and won’t) use the mobile app because we don’t need someone to see it or click it on our mobile device. Many features are being created (apparently) are geared toward the mobile app all the time making web version less functional/secure.

SLS is the biggest or claims to be. However, while fishing we prefer not to have all of our friends, family, coworkers smell us and easily identify where we were swimming.

This all really applies to those uf is who are not out and prefer to keep it that way.

Try Googling your profile ID......

Yeah, so I googled my profile name and found that indeed, I've been on SLS. So what? I've taken what I consider reasonable precautions to disguise myself on there (and here, and other places.) So I don't see a problem there.
