Who has been inoculated for HPV?

Recommended Posts

Since reading more replies about swinging bare on here, I looked up the latest on the recommended ages.   I don't remember the exact wording, but now they are saying it's fine to get up to age 45.     I'm now 41, so I think I'm going to get it.

I (male)  like to swing bare with most couples.  I do use condoms if couoples ask, or with fwb single women that I think take no precautions in most of their romps.

In the poly community the only sti infection that I got word of pass, in like a decade, was HPV.  2 women who had the same male partner.  I think condoms were used with one of the women (the one he likely caught it from, he showed no symptoms).

So, my awareness of HPV rose.  There were a few women in the community with herpes too, but they timed their sex, and occasionally covered their genitals with clothes to help reduce contact.  I didn't hear of any further spread.   I had bare sex (when single and not swinging) with one woman that hadn't had an outbreak in a long time.  I didn't catch it either.

I haven't priced the shots yet, but I will soon.  I'm seeing just one woman for now.

Pricing is not the issue. From what I am told they just will not give it if one is too old.

It is not from risk. THEY figure that 1. above a certain age you are likely already infected and 2.if you do catch it you will not likely live long enough for it to come and bite you with cancer.

We are in our late sixties. The likelihood that it will be a player in our demise is almost nothing. They do not consider the very real possibility of us passing it along to those young enough for it to make a difference.

We would pay for the vaccine if we could get it, just for the sake of the others. We both had a fairly tame sex life before we married and were sexually monogamous for almost 40 years . There is a strong possibility that we are still not infected, and the vaccine might actually stem the spread of HPV.

We know a doctor/swinger over 50 who wrote a prescription for the HPV vaccine for the doctor and spouse. I think it is possible to get it over 45.

It’s sort of a covid situation. 99% of the time you’ll be fine, but if you are in the unlucky 1%, it’s a mess. We have three friends who had problems from HPV. Condoms are not that helpful. Something to be aware about.

I'm going to push my doctor a little bit harder. She knows our whole story. Maybe she's just trying to stay "in system."

The cut off at age 25, 45 if one tells their Doctor that they have multiple partners especially unprotected, may be more related to vaccine shortage than the thought that none of us over 45 are promiscuous😍😘?

I think the researchers think that if you are over 45, you have already been exposed to HPV. That is what I’ve heard.
