One of my favorite sex stories

When one of my college roommates was a teenager, his family stayed in a hotel in the Catskill Mountains of NY. Used to be a popular resort before cheap airfares to warmer climes. 
 

Two young women asked my friend if he wanted to watch them engage in lesbian activities. Scared and knowing it was immoral and wrong, he declined. 
 

My friend reported this incident to his father, expecting praise for his restraint and moral compass. 
 

Instead his father said “Are you an idiot? That was the opportunity of a lifetime!”

Ugh, young people, so scared to live their lifes.  I got a couple of those stories, where I still can't believe a guy turned me down on what I knew was one of his life long fantasies.  In high school I had a friend tell everyone his biggest sexual fantasy during a drunken game of truth or dare, which explicitly involved me by name, then on my turn I got dared to give him his fantasy, I said ok and stood up and held my hand out too him, fully expecting him to take it so we could go to the bedroom, and he freaked out and ran away. ???  Dude told a whole room of people his most erotic fantasy was to have sex with me, I offer to fuck him, and HE RUNS AWAY!  I was literally like, what the what? What just happened?

It seems to me that when a couple in their thirties or forties writes suggesting that they want to get into swinging, but are having troubles wrapping their heads around it. We counsel them that we are taught as children that sex outside of marriage is bad, terrible, immoral, and that it takes some time to reorient themselves.

 

It seems that NJBM's story is about a young person who ran into that barrier.

This isn't hard to relate to. I had one or two possibilities that could've led to something in my teens and 20s, for various reasons. I've never been religious, but grew up surrounded by the mindset, so some of it rubbed off. I also tend to forget how terrified I was of being stuck in the town where I went to high school, due to pregnancy or whatever reason. Plus, it was the 80s and everyone was freaked out about AIDS.

 

I was still reticent even after turning 40, getting a divorce, and starting swinging. I turned down one of those high school opportunities who even flew out to see me. It just didn't seem like a good idea--she still lived in my high school town, had been divorced a couple times, etc, etc. She understood. Sometimes I wish I'd gone through with what she clearly wanted, and others I feel like it was the right decision.

When I was in law school, my then girlfriend and I were in a Japanese restaurant. 
To give you an idea how long ago this was, sushi was a novelty. I guess we were ogling the sushi of the couple in the booth across from us. They offered us a taste of their sushi. We politely declined. The banter continued throughout dinner. 
 

When my gf and I got home, we arrived at the same conclusion. The other couple was trying to pick us up! At age 24, this concept was beyond us.

My wife reminded me of a funny story, to keep my borscht belt thread going. 

I accompanied my wife to a lingerie shop and I dilligently read my iPhone while my wife was trying things on with the assistance of a sales associate. The sales associate said to me “Your wife has an incredible body.”  The sales associate is right. 
 

I said “ Can you imagine how much money I have to have to land a wife like that?”

 

The sales associate did not know what to say. True story, verbatim.
