Will the hobby of swinging come back from the pandemic?

Recommended Posts

While the pandemic may have made some people quarantine or take a break, others have just limited their activity to smaller circles or just another couple. Swinging has been around since the Romans controlled the world and will continue as long as men and women have a sex drive and the curiosity to want to try new people.

While we are not necessarily looking for new playmates during the pandemic trust friends  are still welcome in our life's and we know that they understand as much as we do that its important to be open about their health and those for the people around them.

I hate this covid 19 . My wife said she's not going to date anyone untill this quarantine times are over and things go back to normal. Well I guess I'm out of luck. I suggest go to a XXX theater glory holes let's have some fun. She said you can go enjoy yourself. I haven't but I'm thinking about. I'm sexually frustrated.

A few mainstream publications have made the same point I did earlier in a thread about this - the Jazz Age and "petting parties" came right after the Spanish Flu.

I expect casual sex generally is going to being in high demand, including group sex, although it may or may not be called "swinging", just as relatively few vanilla people who indulge in threesomes embrace the term. Expect to see new and creative outlets and a lot more blind eyes turned.

It appears it hasn’t really gone away by the crazy large amount of people we have had hitting us up online over the last year!  I swear we have had more action on our profiles since this shit began then we did before it hit and some people don’t take it very well when we tell them until we can see our families again we are not going to be seeing other people. Don’t really care if we burned some bridges alone the way, because unsafe people don’t interest us anyways and we are more then satisfied with the action we have at home with each other.  If anything our sex life has just gotten better throughout this ordeal.

Like @eastandwest mentioned, things bounced back after the Spanish flu 100 years ago so I think things will bounce back again.  There is still some debate over the level of protection that vaccines provide given the new strains, plus the vacine rollout seems to be a little slower than hoped for, so i think the comeback will be slow and cautious.

As for us our circle is as small as any swinger circle can possibly be: exactly 3 people.  We look forward to gradually adding more but for now we're very happy to have the 3 of us.

There's a very simple one word answer to this.

Sex.

I firmly believe that humans are non-monogamous by nature, and that nature will be followed. Cheating affairs will return (sadly) to the same levels they were before, swinger parties will be happening just as much before, and poly couples will be dating as much as before as well. It will just take time for things to get in gear again.

I overheard some workers in a doctor's office today talking about their plans for the weekend. One of them noted that she and her husband were going to go see her parents. Everyone involved had been vaccinated, so there was no risk in their estimation. The same will happen with swinging.

With that truth as a starting point, everything will follow.  We've been playing within our closed group the whole time, driven more by the women than the men.  It seems to me that the wives have a desire for "social sex" (including girl/girl play) which drives it more than their husbands.

It's long been said that women are really the driving force behind swinging. I think it's true. It wouldn't shock me at all if there is some sort of biological underpinning to that.

I agree. As we've reached a point where people feel while not totally out of the woods yet, we can at least start to look at what comes next, I think this is a common belief. Like I said in the recent BBC article thread, I think the second golden age of swinging is coming.

Hope so; we haven't even really started lol. But together 23 years we are both secure in knowing what we want to do to add some additional fun to our lives so we're hopeful to explore the next phase of our amazing relationship.

For us, normal with be exhibitionism in appropriate places, resorts, clubs and situations.  We decided no more soft swing or swinging.  All med tests are good, so we simply have used RONA to step back and will for the foreseeable future used masks, etc.  Julie and Robb

Are you stepping back because of corona virus or other reasons, if it’s not too personal.

We are returning now that we both have been vaccinated. We already have plans with friends who have been vaccinated and waited two weeks to build antibodies.

It will come back, swingers are risk takers and as someone else answered many of us have short memories.

Certainly it will come back. As will Spring Break, fans at sporting events, and wearing pants.

In historical terms the last year - while being for shit! - is just a blip. When it's relatively safe to be social again, people will be social.

Hi All!

With the RONA, we pretty much isolated, wore masked and stayed away from people who did not distance and wear masks.  We simple dropped out it seems.     We canceled at least 6  one to two week long vacations to Mexico (HBR), Florida (Caliente) and Arizona (Mira Vista) in the past 15 months, which really gave us time to reacquaint, spend time with immediate family and nude boat and sun on the big lake west of town during last summer.  Our meal preparation, diets, exercise habits, etc. all improved!  LOL,

We both recently completed our second annual physicals since the RONA shutdowns with everything testing and checking out really good.  After discussions with both of our personal doctors, we decided to avoid even soft swing activity to further avoid picking up anything bad or uncomfortable and bring it home.

We like the energy of lifestyle venues like meet and greets, clothes optional resorts, and we are very upfront with people we meet.  When appropriate flashing, watching and doing some public sex is very exciting and hot for both of us.

Best Regards All!

Julie and Robb

I do think swinging will return to normal by the end of the summer when most people should be vaccinated.  (I know, not everyone wants to be).  Swingers are risk takers and many have not seemed bothered by the virus.  We are shocked by how many parties we have been invited to even when we keep declining the invitations.  But, on the other hand, I am always shocked by how many people have asked if we will play without condoms...
