DocPhotog 13 Posted October 11, 2021 Greetings everyone - I am a photographer/documentary filmmaker in the San Francisco area. I'm interested in doing a short film about the swinging lifestyle, and I'm wondering if there is anyone out there (preferably in the N. California area) that would be interested in being filmed. There will be more than likely be nudity in the film, but nothing X rated. I'm very interested in documenting "a day in the life" of a swinging couple, and discussing their reasons for choosing this lifestyle and what they've gotten out of it. Of course, discretion will be my upmost priority. Please let me know if you are interested, and I can share samples of my work. Thank you. Quote Share this post Link to post
Pklon 62 Posted October 11, 2021 I do not wish to be in it, but I do wish you the best of luck. I do think that there should be more documentary film/tv show about swinging. I just hope that the concept/setting is better than the the disaster show from A&E " Neighbors With Benefits " back in 2015. To me I always find these swingers reality show always seem to always have the same group age in there shows ( the late 20s and early 30s and with less then 5 yrs experience ), why can they get different people in different age group or people who with 10 to 20+ yrs of swingers experience in them. Also with the older swingers, if they have kids of there own, ask them what they think about there parents lifestyle and also ask them if they think about becoming swingers themselves if there not already. I think also a good idea would be is to have 7 or so couples with different age group and different years of experience with maybe 2 singles (a male and female). That my 2 cent for ideas that I like to see. So again I wish you the best of luck in your project. Quote Share this post Link to post
DocPhotog 13 Posted October 11, 2021 Thanks Pklon. I agree. As someone who has been interested in the lifestyle but never taken the plunge, I've found shows like that to be weak structurally, and the content not very interesting. Much more like a clickbait type of show. (Plus, I'm 50, and have little interest in kids in their 20s being swingers!) My idea is to let the subjects tell their story. I have no storyline that I'm pushing, and no agenda or theme other than 100% reality. I've envisioned several scenes where the imagery is beautiful and provocative, but also tasteful and classy. I simply want to tell the story. Thanks for the input! Much appreciated. Quote Share this post Link to post
Pklon 62 Posted October 11, 2021 No problem. Like I said try to get different set of couples/people with different swinging experience. Nothing wrong with newbie in it. I was once a swingers in my 20s and had many first in the lifestyle. For myself i am curious too see how many swingers out there that are second generation. The numbers could be surprising. I would really like to see what swingers kids have to say about it( even if there legal age at 18+) just curious there POV. I do not think I have ever seen a documentary film/tv show about swinging from there side of POV. Quote Share this post Link to post
GoldCoCouple 4,065 Posted October 12, 2021 Reality TV (like Neighbors with Benefits) is about drama, not truth. That it made a lifestyle that goes against the norm look like it was a bad thing was only a plus to the makers. While we also don't want to be in it (especially since just about everything else that has featured swinging has ended in a train wreck), we do think that you should be able to find other 'normal' couples in the Bay Area who can show that it isn't something that people do at the end of a failing relationship to finally bring that relationship to a crashing end. We do wish you luck with your film and be sure to let us know where we can find it once it is done. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
