Is there an upstate NY scene at all?

We are in the 607. Finger lakes region of NY and have found it impossible to even find the tiniest lead on any sort of LS groups, communities, or anything remotely close. Can anyone point us in the right direction?

I know that area fairly well. If you join SLS and list the Syracuse area in your profile, you will probably get invited to some groups although their quality and activity levels may vary.

 

Albany. Boston, and downstate are going to be much busier, of course.

I’ve heard a lot of poor opinions on SLS. Is that the place to be, or is it just geared toward pay to maybe play? As far as the rest of your reply…. This area isn’t real small, there’s a few semi large cities. Nothing metropolitan but i mean, where I’m at there’s 40,000+. I figured there would be SOME sort of community nearby but the trail has been ice cold to this point

Yeah, like I said, I'm definitely familiar with the area. Ithaca might have something going but it's likely to be organized to be very LGBT-friendly if that's not your thing. There might also be some stuff on Fetlife.

 

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "pay to maybe play", but clubs, hotel takeovers, etc., have some expenses involved in getting them organized and keeping them running. SLS could use a redesign but is pretty standard. 

 

There is definitely an active community in Syracuse. That's going to be your best bet.
