Good for Goldberg! Seems a lot of media outlets have all of a sudden discovered polyamory, though the writers/producers don’t seem to differentiate it from other forms of CNM and conflate all forms of the latter term. I’d considered posting the New York magazine (not The New Yorker, which also recently had a long feature on polyamory) that The View panelists were discussing, but after concluding that there’s no serious subject New York magazine can’t trivialize, I decided not to. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
PeterJ 948 Posted January 17 Here’s the link to the (somewhat) better New Yorker article on polyamory: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2024/01/01/american-poly-christopher-gleason-book-review-more-a-memoir-of-open-marriage-molly-roden-winter?utm_source=nl&utm_brand=tny&utm_mailing=TNY_Daily_123023&utm_campaign=aud-dev&utm_medium=email&utm_term=tny_daily_digest&bxid=5bea0f4a3f92a404695e127b&cndid=13110541&hasha=3347331cce0b215f4cce863e282d9b9e&hashb=88b18aaa506f34f15fdebabfef4bcc1bb24fc8b8&hashc=7388a910b6bd7b9c5706b003aa22c841db3ec005b9711f8ce4e1b70480ca4e08&esrc=VERSO_NAVIGATION Quote Share this post Link to post
Billygoat 443 Posted January 18 As is normal for the view they round table discuss most any topic with very little or no knowledge about the topic or subject matter. Dangerous when your show is watched by a wide audience that takes their opinion as fact. Their lack of experience, knowledge and no expert representation shows in their round table discussion. Just wondering if you watched the segment or are you posting with no knowledge of the discussion. Quote Share this post Link to post
Billygoat 443 Posted January 18 Read through the first link posted. If they were talking about ENM and Polyamory it certainly wasn’t from a standpoint of experience or research/interview. Quote Share this post Link to post

How do you know what they talk about or what their knowledge is unless you actually watch. So you are accusing them of discussing topics that they have no knowledge when you are now posting Your View with no real knowledge. If you just read the article it states their opinions. One is 81years old implying she isn’t having sex, one is newly married happy if she wanted to sleep around she would’ve stayed single, one admitted she is too jealous and possessive and another said her life is too busy joking that having sex with her husband is too much. Whoopie was the only one who didn’t down play the thought. Quote Share this post Link to post
ExploringOptions 185 Posted January 18 If one of the six women enjoy ENM the percentage exceeds that of the general population. Whoopie is the only single woman on the panel. Quote Share this post Link to post
Billygoat 443 Posted January 20 (edited) Yes, I have seen the view, not a fan. It is an opinion show, always has been, as compared to news/documentary/investigative shows (60 minutes etc). It has many “shorts” found on YouTube, tictoc etc. my point is the second article was more on point and factual. I prefer to be more specific, factual, experience based when discussing any lifestyle choice adult/sex based or hunting/fishing/sports/riding etc. Opinions are fine and can be readily expressed, no problem there. As long as they are presented as opinion/personal belief etc not as a matter of fact. Edited January 20 by Billygoat Added thought Quote Share this post Link to post

They give their opinions on Hot Topics, in this case the topic was Poly and the question thrown own was what do you “think” about polyamorous relationships, it was not an investigation of the poly lifestyle it was what is your opinion and do you think you could or would you want to have sex with others outside your current relationship. In the 3 minute segment they were asked for their View, their opinion. In your response you gave your opinion without much knowledge of the segment, are we to discount your opinion?
