Chicup, Julie and a couple other posts are pretty much dead on here. Swingers are easier to be around if you are a swinger. Like minded, not open minded is the truth of the matter. Bring up politics, religion or gay people around swingers and you will see the same colors come out as you will see with anyone else. They gossip and talk behind each others backs just like anyone else. Swingers are people, just like anyone else. We just choose to live a different lifestyle or in some cases have a different hobby. As Swingers we are no better or worse than anyone else in this world. If you were into killing kittens you would find that those that did the same thing would be a lot easier to hang out with also. Keep your eyes open. Don't try to paint a rosy picture just because you hang out with like minded people. As others have pointed out, you can be pegged as not even "Swinging" right if you don't hang with the right group of "like minded Swingers."
