There are two aspects to this revelation. First, it's distressing that anyone has to feel that their preferences need to be fodder for magazine articles. Second, when celebrities publicly acknowledge and embrace alternate lifestyles that are based on love and respect, everyone benefits.
Regardless of her agenda and rationale for granting the interview to Vanity Fair, and regardless of Vanity Fair's rationale for publishing the piece, we all benefit when such life styles can be openly discussed. Sexuality is so foundational to human life that we should hope such conversation becomes not only mainstream but ordinary.
One hopes that Mr. Giuliani is proud of his daughter not only for who she is, but also for her courage in openly acknowledging her preferences.
