We went to Caliente recently and wanted to give our review. I have done a previous review and it still stands. I have been there about 6 times. The Mrs. has been there 3 times only, and all with me.
Start with the cons:
A few parts of our hotel room were worn. The tissue paper holder in the bathroom was rusted. No big deal.
Our toilet basin stopped filling. The desk clerk said that the maintenance guy could come by tomorrow, but sometimes he's out of town and it might be longer. We asked to change rooms but there were no vacancies. We weren't thrilled with the answer but we could make do or use the clubhouse. Later that night we spoke to a different desk clerk that was much informative and decisive on what would be done. Either way, it was fixed the next morning and didn't affect our stay too much.
Club Rogue is currently shut down due to a permitting issue. We were very disappointed with this because we thought they had the best play room we'd ever been in. Personally, we think it beat out Secrets, and the Desire properties as a playroom.
Next the neutrals:
Friday was a little empty on the dance floor and the after party.
Caliente has switched from just being able to charge everything to the room to having to pay at purchase or open a tab with a credit card. There is a 3% surcharge for doing this I believe. You had the option of paying cash, or buying a gift card at the front desk with cash to avoid the 3% fee. Not a huge deal but slightly less convenient. But if people were skipping out on tabs, I don't blame Caliente for changing this policy.
The Pros:
As usual the people and staff are just super nice. I can't say enough about the great service of the staff.
In lieu of Club Rouge, there is an after party that is available. Ask the front desk or security and you can get shuttled there. Basically they took everything out of Club Rouge and put it in a villa. It is spotlessly clean, and very professional, but it just wasn't the same atmosphere as Club Rogue. What was nice was that there was a 6 person shower, so you can clean up in a modern shower. There are lockers for your clothes, towels and condoms provided, a metal detector to gain entry. Top notch.
Another pro is that it seems like many or all of the rooms have received new flooring and look updated to a degree.
Saturday night was packed and the musician they had TL Jentgens was a world class performer that played cover songs better than the originals! He wass high energy and didn't take more than the occasional break of two over 4 hours of hard drumming and singing! Highly recommend catching him if you cant. He hit the 70s, 80s, 90's, and music up into the 2000's. We actually enjoyed the music so much we probably missed out on meeting other couples.
The food continues to be outstanding at every restaurant at the resort. You pay a little higher of a price but the quality and portion size is just outstanding. If you wanted to keep costs down you could leave the property to eat or have food in your room (there's a mini fridge and microwave) but if you miss out on the meals, you really are missing out.
There was a chat group on SDC for the Saturday night party that was fun to be involved in and we did meet some people from that group.
Other Misc items:
The pools remain awesome. We didn't stick around too much at the conversation pool at night. Plenty of action there but in a low key vibe.
Our question to Caliente regulars. It seems that there's a lot of people that end up talking on the balcony's outside the night club above the pool. More of a landing, with chairs and tables. Is there were people tend to meet other people to see if they have chemistry?
The club was too loud be heard talking. We could have asked or offered an invite to people at the conversation pool but felt that was a little too forward. Since most people are already naked with their partners.
Or do most people make arrangements online or use SDC to already have potential play partners lined up?
Over all another great experience and Caliente it top notch.
